In the quarterfinals, the Winnipeg Glenlawn Collegiate Lions edged the Brandon Vincent Massey Vikings (then the Brandon Collegiate Blues) 36-30 as Barry Clarke scored 8, Gerry Braun 7 and Glen Brand 7. Playing coach Lew Hemming led the Vikings with 9. Bob Stordy added 6 and Hugo Muellor 4. The Vikings also included Wayne Hanna, Bill Ducharme, Dave Hitchens, Fred Baker, Jack Matheson, Larry Clark, Bruce McKenzie, Bill Burton, Wayne Hanney, Bob Lawson and Bruce Smith.
The Winnipeg St. Paul’s Crusaders dusted the Dauphin Clippers 59-23 as Ken Nieman scored 20, Rich Barrett-Hamilton 9, Dave Jandrisch 8 and Dan Kennedy 8. Don Assailley led the Clippers with 9. Clayton Schick added 7 and Don Ross 4. The Clippers also included Errol Feuffel, Gary Whetter, Noin Blaine, Dresdowich, Bill Yurkiw, Ross Shumanski, Stew Wilson, Strang and Ted Schur.
The Winnipeg Sisler Spartans clocked the Morris Red Hawks 87-34 as Gerry Morlock scored 26, Jerry Dragan 23, Lome Wilson 8 and Ken Galanchuk 8. The Spartans led 31-9 at the half. Gilbert Rempel led the Red Hawks with 12. Earl Swain added 11 and Vladi Vagels 7.
In the last quarterfinal, the Flin Flon Hapnot Kopper Kings whipped the Roblin Goose Lake Raiders 62-15 as Henry Marcuk scored 12, Len Hume 11, Gillespie 8 and Mills 8. The Kopper Kings led 29-6 at the half. Bert Friesen paced the Raiders with 7. Alf Tischinski added 6.
In the semis, the Flin Flon Hapnot Kopper Kings dispatched the Winnipeg Glenlawn Lions 46-31 as Jim Wilson scored 10, Mel Hustzi 9, Henry Marcuk 8 and Jim Hume 6. Barry Clarke led the Lions with 8. Glen Brand added 7 and Art Hawkins 6. The Lions trailed 30-29 when Brand picked up his fifth foul and the team fell apart down the stretch.
In the other semi, the Winnipeg Sisler Spartans whipped the Winnipeg St. Paul’s Crusaders 51-17 as Gerry Morlock scored 13, Jerry Dragan 13 and Lorne Wilson 9, while dominating the boards. Don Kennedy led the Saints with 7. Les Oliver added 5 and Ken Nieman 4. The Spartans led 8-2 after one quarter and 23-9 at the half.
In the final, the Winnipeg Sisler (the Isaac Newton) Spartans defeated the Flin Flon Hapnot Kopper Kings 47-34 as Gerry Morlock scored 12, Ray Leban 12, Lorne Wilson 7, Jerry Dragan 6, Jim Bannon 6 and Mike Wasilykiw 4. The Spartans dominated the boards and led 26-13 at the half. Henry Marcuk led the Kopper Kings with 13. Leo Marcuk added 9 and Mel Hustzi 6, Bob Sorenson 4 and Jim Wilson 2.
