In the interzone playoffs, the zone 13 champ Ste. Anne Lynx nipped the zone 12 champ Winnipeg Westgate Wings 56-55 on a bucket by Danielle Harrison with a minute to play. A Marla Hildebrand shot at the buzzer bounced off the rim, denying the Wings the win. Denise Nicolas paced the Lynx with 19. Stephanie Kayzer added 15 and Danielle Harrison 11. Marla Hildebrand led the Wings with 22. Sindy Janzen added 12, Vaughn Rempel 8. The Wings also included Darlene Quiring.
In the quarterfinals, held in Boissevain and Killarney, the top-seeded Warren Wildcats defeated the 8th-seeded Thompson R.D. Parker Trojanettes 67-29. The Trojanettes (coached by Jill Overall) included Bernie Nicholson, Cheryl Weselowski, Kim Drapack.
The 3rd-seeded Boissevain Broncos clipped the 6th-seeded Neepawa Tigers 88-70.
The 2nd-seeded Killarney Raiders crushed the 7th-seeded Dauphin Clippers 67-40. “The press stymied us,” Clippers coach Larry McDougall told the Dauphin Herald. Audrey Balthus paced the Clippers with 13. Elisa Granger added 9. The Clippers (coached by McDougall, assisted by Bob McKenzie) also included Rosita Lopez, Darlene Koshowski, Debbie Vanderburgh, Kendall Balchen, Julie Sisson, Lisa Rempel.
In the last quarterfinal, the 5th-seeded Portage la Prairie Arthur Meighen Saints nipped the 4th-seeded Ste. Anne Lynx 73-69. The Lynx (coached by Jean Beaumont and managed by Denis Olivier) included Stefanie Kayser, Joanne Lajoie, Danielle Harrison, Brigitte Boulianne, Denise Nicolas, Joanne Hadley, Lisa Pylatiuk, Jackie Nicolas and Mona Patterson.
In the semis, the Warren Wildcats defeated the Portage La Prairie Arthur Meighen Saints 45-24 as Cathy Holtman scored 29.
In the other semi, the Killarney Raiders defeated the Boissevain Broncos 48-40 as Susan Mauthe and Shannon Hartwell each scored 11. Brenda Lamb and Kelly Hicks each added 10. Marie Rohleder led the Broncos with 20.
In the bronze medal match, the Boissevain Broncos edged the Portage la Prairie Arthur Meighen Saints 52-48. The Saints (coached by Jim Lehman and managed by Lynne Grant and Debbie Gray) included Glenda Mandin, Tricia Klassen, Gwynne Eyvindson, Karen Roe, Tracy Verwey, Shirley Kerwin, Jill McCartney, Rhonda Switzer and Karen Ostenfeldt.
In the final, the Warren Wildcats defeated the Killarney Raiders 55-52 as Cathy Holtmann scored 31 and Lynda Schott 11. Bonnie Lamb scored 17 for Killarney. Susan Mauthe added 10 and Brenda Lamb 10. The Wildcats led 34-20 at the half.
