In the quarterfinals, held in Brandon, the Altona W.C. Miller Aces defeated the St. Norbert Celtics 36-21 as Jean Funk scored 11 and Sherry Wiebe 9. The Aces led 9-8, 17-14 and 26-19 at the quarters. Anita L’Heureux paced the Celtics with 8. Rachel LeJeunesse added 4. The Celtics (coached by Jean Beaumont) also included Cheryl L’Heureux, Mary-Ann Osterveen, Cheryl Loeppky.

        The Gimli Lakers defeated the Souris Sabres 38-22 after leading 13-4 after one quarter and 23-9 at the half. Donna Hale led the Sabres with 10. The Sabres (coached by John Egolf) also included Donalda Janz, Chris Burkholder, Janet McElroy, Sue Winters, Bernice Kachanowski, Norma Jean Edwards, Nicole Forest, Verla Strawn and Betty Morris.

        The Brandon T.A. Neelin Spartans clipped the Rivers Rams 34-23. The score was knotted at seven after one quarter. Neelin led 11-7 at the half. The score was knotted at 19-19 after three quarters. Val Boyce paced the Spartans with 18. Ruth Johnston added 6. Joyce MacDonald led the Rams with 10. Lyndamae Harris added 8. The Rams (coached by Karen McDonald) also included Judy Giesbrecht, Jackie Gilchrist.

        In the last quarterfinal, the Flin Flon Kopper Kweens nipped the Minitonas Broncettes 23-22. Sandy Ford led the Kopper Kweens with 7. Gloria Biletski added 7. The score was knotted at 6 at the half and at 15 after three quarters. Bernice Hart paced the Broncettes with 11. Donna Leslie added 5. The Broncettes (coached by Victor Logeot) also included Louise Suski.

In the semis, the Altona W.C. Miller Aces defeated the Flin Flon Kopper Kweens 48-21 after leading 12-4, 17-14 and 30-19 at the quarters. Jean Funk led the Acettes with 16. Cheryl Loeppky added 10. Alicia Maluta paced the Kopper Kweens with 8. Sandy Ford added 8.

In the other semi, the Gimli Lakers dumped the Brandon T.A. Neelin Spartans 41-30 as Val Peterson scored 26, Marilyn Erickson 11 and Margaret Feschuk 6. Gimli led 7-5, 22-11 and 27-22 at the quarters. Donna Skogstad led the Spartans with 10. Sandy Stobbe added 9 and Elaine Hargreaves 4. Neelin coach Doug Dickson told the Brandon Sun that “those girls were much too big for us to handle. They only way we could stop them was by fouling them and look where that got us.”

In the final, the Altona W.C. Miller Acettes defeated the Gimli Lakers 30-27 after leading 8-5, 16-15 and 26-20 at the quarters. Sherry Wiebe and Fran Voth each scored 8 to lead the Acettes. Brenda Martel added 6, Carolyn Loeppky 5 and Jean Funk 3. Valerie Peterson led the Lakers with 11. Marilyn Erickson added 7 and Cathy Berryere 4.
