In the quarterfinals, held in Neepawa, the 6th-seeded Neepawa Tigers stunned the 3rd-seeded The Pas Joe A. Ross Flyers 69-64. The Flyers included Robert Diering-Cook, Benjamin Quay;
The top-seeded Altona W.C. Miller Aces defeated stomped the 8th-seeded Beausejour Edward Schreyer Barons 112-72. The Barons (coached by Doug Kruk and Curtis Kowalchuk) included Kevin Desjarlais, Jeff Monette.
The 4th-seeded Forrest Elton Sabres defeated dispatched the 5th-seeded Killarney Raiders 93-79.
In the last quarterfinal, the 2nd-seeded Teulon Saints edged the 7th-seeded Ste. Anne Lynx 104-97 in overtime. The Saints rallied from a 13-point deficit in the final two minutes to force overtime. Four free throws by Greg Le Blanc and a pair by Steve Olson knotted the score at 91 after regulation. Le Blanc led the Saints with 32. Steven Tutkaluk added 30, Steve Olson 10, Jeff Reinsch 8, Evan McDonald 8, Derek Cook 3 and Wayne Pankiw 2.
In the semis, the 2nd-seeded Teulon Saints dumped the 6th-seeded Neepawa Tigers 77-61. Coach Dean Goodbrandson said his Saints played their “best all-around game of the season.” Greg Le Blanc paced the Saints with 29. Jeff Reinsch added 18, Derek Cook 12, Steven Tutkaluk 9 and Wayne Pankiw 8. “We met a team that was really hot,” said Tigers coach Gord Hay. “They shot the lights out. We couldn’t have played the game better than we did. They shot 72 per cent from the three-point line as a team.”
In the other semi, the top-seeded Altona W.C. Miller Aces defeated the 4th-seeded Forrest Elton Sabres 97-80.
In the bronze medal match, the 6th-seeded Neepawa Tigers dumped the 4th-seeded Forrest Elton Sabres 80-67 to avenge a loss in the zone finals. “I brought it (the loss) to their attention,” Tigers coach Gord Hay told the Neepawa Banner. “We’re very satisfied with how they did.” The loss in the zones was “brought to their attention,” he added. Tigers coach Scott Ellis dominated the boards, while Mike Isaac scored 32 and Tyler Hauck 27. The Sabres also included Derek Marvin, Matt Thompson.
In the final, the top-seeded Altona W.C. Miller Aces defeated the 2nd-seeded Teulon Saints 100-82. The Saints led 24-20 after one quarter as Jeff Reinsch and Les Condie caught fire. Derek Cook nailed four treys as took a 48-46 lead at the half. The Aces rallied to a 74-73 lead after three quarters and took command in the fourth frame. Derek Cook led the Saints with 19. Les Condie added 16, Greg Le Blanc 14, Steve Tutkaluk 12, Steve Olson 8, Jeff Reinsch 7 and Wayne Pankiw 6.
