In the quarterfinals, held in Killarney, the 5th-seeded St. Norbert Celtics clipped the 4th-seeded Dauphin Clippers 78-64 as Chris Lowdon scored 28. Bassem Elias led the Clippers with 22. Kris Peterson added 14. “We played pretty well but they went on a bit of a run in the third quarter and got up three or four baskets,” Clippers’ coach Dave Bosiak told the Dauphin Herald. “I think our guys may have been in awe a little of the fans there and the size of the other team.” The Clippers (coached by Bosiak) also included Cameron Towle, David Sigvaldason, Scott McColm, Kris Petersen, Clinton Toews, Pat Nakoneshny.

        The top-seeded Winkler Garden Valley Zodiacs edged the 8th-seeded Warren Wildcats 60-57. “We were so close to beating them,” Warren coach Scott Kwasnitza told the Stonewall Argus. Chris Fleury led the Wildcats with 16. Mike Hoas added 15. The Wildcats (coached by Scott Kwasnitza and Dave Bosiak) also included Rick Baldwin, Sean Braun, Brent Tully, Jason Hoas, Dameon Wall.

        The Virden Golden Bears clipped the University of Winnipeg Collegiate Wesmen 67-49. The Wesmen included Shawn Caplen.

        In the last quarterfinal, the Killarney Raiders nipped the Pas Margaret Barbour Spartans 65-64.

        In the semis, the top-seeded Winkler Garden Valley Zodiacs dumped the St. Norbert Celtics 82-73 as Kevin Janzen scored 35. Rob Palmer led the Celtics with 27.

        In the other semi, the Virden Golden Bears nipped the Killarney Raiders 56-53.

        In the bronze medal match, the St. Norbert Celtics nipped the Killarney Raiders 56-54. The Raiders included Lincoln Beamish, Kevin Nicholls, Todd Shule, Gary McInnes.

        In the final, the top-seeded Winkler Garden Valley Zodiacs defeated the Virden Golden Bears 56-45. “There have been a lot of good teams at Garden Valley but none have ever won it all,” Zodiacs’ coach John Klassen told the Winnipeg Free Press. “It’s quite a monkey off our backs. I don’t know if we are more happy to win or just plain relieved to have done it. … We knew we should be in the finals but try to tell that to the other teams. The kids were nervous and played pretty tight. We just wanted to do well and not make any mistakes.” Kevin Jaszen paced the Zodiacs with 26. “There is no question that Kevin was by far the most dominant player of the tournament — no one came close to him. When he wanted the ball, we let him have it.” James Rempel added 12 and Ray Doerksen 10.
