In the quarterfinals, the top-seeded Dauphin Clippers defeated the 10th-seeded Virden Golden Bears 76-35 as Brian Smith scored 16. Blair Wright led the Golden Bears with 16. The Golden Bears (coached by Ken Buchy) also included Chuck Sefchak.

The 4th-seeded Winkler Garden Valley Zodiacs whipped the 7th-seeded U of Winnipeg Collegiate Wesmen 92-50 as Loren Brown scored 25. Mark Wiltshire led the Wesmen with 13. The Wesmen also included Ilya Vitkin, Paul Wiltshire.

The 2nd-seeded Gimli Lakers trounced the 9th-seeded Russell Major Pratt Trojans 79-48 as B Fjilstad scored 23. The Trojans (coached by Mr. Hopkins) included Michael Nernberg.

        In the last quarterfinal, the 3rd-seeded Selkirk Lord Selkirk Regional Royals dusted the 6th-seeded Thompson R.D. Parker Trojans 72-59 as Laurie Sabulka and Gary Dear each scored 14. Gerald Johnson led the Trojans with 26.

        In the semis, the top-seeded Dauphin Clippers nipped the 4th-seeded Winkler Garden Valley Zodiacs 47-44 as Brian Smith scored 21. Loren Browne led Winkler with 11. The Clippers took their first lead on a Smith bucket with two minutes to play and the Zodiacs leading 44-43. He added a pair of free throws to ice it with 1:08 on the clock and then blocked a Zodiac shot in the final seconds. Clippers coach Larry McDougall said his troops did a good job of containing 6-7 Zodiacs post Rick Dirksen.

        In the other semi, the 3rd-seeded Selkirk Lord Selkirk Regional Royals defeated the 2nd-seeded Gimli Lakers 45-33 as Rick Myall scored 11. Gerry Kohut led the Lakers with 17.

        In the bronze medal match, the 4th-seeded Winkler Garden Valley Zodiacs defeated the 2nd-seeded Gimli Lakers 64-47 as Rick Derksen scored 18. Gerry Kohut led the Lakers with 25.

        In the final, tournament MVP Brian Smith scored 27 to lead the top-seeded Dauphin Clippers past the 3rd-seeded Selkirk Lord Selkirk Regional Royals 50-48. Rick Myall led the Royals with 17. Dauphin guard Duane Fedierchuk hit one of two free throws with the Clippers leading 49-48 with seven seconds to play and then Gerald Chiernicki intercepted a pass and ran out the clock to ice the win for Selkirk. Royals coach Peter Gerbrandt called it an aggressive, physical game that was decided at the line. The Royals hit just 8-18 from the line. Clippers coach Larry McDougall said that Selkirk guard Rick Myall was a force but added that the 6-5 Smith did a good job in the post scoring over 6-1 Laurie Sahulka. Selkirk led by nine in the second quarter but took command by pounding the ball inside for a 15-0 run bridging the half to take a 34-29 lead. The Clippers were without starter Cam McCallum, who was sidelined with measles, and Bob Mackenzie, who had the flu. They led 46-40 with six minutes to play. Myall hit a bucket and two free throws to cut the margin to 47-46 and the Royals took the lead on a Larry Dear layup with two minutes on the clock. They had possession of the ball but were called for travelling with 48 seconds remaining, which allowed Smith hit what turned out to be the winning jumper.
