In the last quarterfinal, the New Westminster Hyacks pounded the Clearbrook Mennonite Educational Institute Eagles 78-58 as Heidi Hanson scored 18. Lara Vooys led the Eagles with 12. In the semis, Crystal Caldwell hit for 23 as the Coquitlam Centennial Centaurs thumped the New Westminster Hyacks 71-46. Chris Marshall added 14, Mary-Ann Parolin 12 and Laura Betcher 10. Centaurs coach Steve Pettifer told the Maple Ridge Tri-City News that “Chris is a great little floor general. She ran the show. We executed well and were very disciplined.” Heidi Hanson paced the Hyacks with 13.

In the other semi, Loree McPherson scored 21 to lead the 2nd-seeded Salmon Arm Jewels past the Terrace Caledonia Kermodes 70-55. Shannon LeFranc added 12 and Jenny Wright 11. Jewels coach Terry Michell told the Salmon Arm Observor that “it was a game where we couldn’t do much wrong. Everything went according to game plan. We shot extremely well and our defence was good.” Terrace gave the Jewels the perimeter and Kira Pavelich responded by hitting three treys. Terrace led 15-13 after one quarter. The Jewels led 38-30 at the half and 52-43 after three quarters. Michell said the Jewels full-court pressure wore down the Kermodes. “I thought we had a stronger bench than they did. Also, they have two really tall inside players and we wanted to keep them out.” Michelle Hendry led the Kermodes with 22.

        In the bronze medal match, the Terrace Caledonia Kermodes defeated the New Westminster Hyacks 78-72 in overtime. The Hyacks led 38-35 at the half and by 56-46 after three quarters. But the Kermodes rallied to knot the score at 69 after regulation. Michelle Hendry paced the Kermodes with 29. Darcy Wadley added 14 and Stacey Buteau 10. Gurmeet Deol led the Hyacks with 18. The Hyacks also included Heidi Hanson.

        In the final, the Coquitlam Centennial Centaurs captured the first of two consecutive crowns while thrashing the 2nd-seeded interior powerhouse Salmon Arm Jewels 68-53. Tourney MVP Crystal Caldwell paced the Centaurs with 36. Tanys Gerrard added 32. Centaurs coach Steve Pettifer told the Maple Ridge Tri-City News that “our kids just go better. … And they let Crystal get the ball at will.” The Jewels broke to an early 10-4 lead and led 18-16 after one quarter. The Centaurs led 41-27 at the half and 54-39 after three quarters. Loree McPherson paced the Jewels with 21. Shannon LeFranc added 9. Jewels coach Terry Michell told the Salmon Arm Observor that “Centennial was hot. Unfortunately, we weren’t. … Our defence wasn’t aggressive enough, our fast break wasn’t working and our shooting was off.”
