In the last quarterfinal, the Coquitlam Centennial Centaurs dusted the Vancouver Killarney Cougars 74-53 as Kevin Parkinson scored 16, Paul Parolin 14 and Greg Nyte 14. In the semis, Larry Clarkson scored 28 and Dave Lescheid 21 to lead the Abbotsford Panthers past the Vancouver College Fighting Irish 71-55. Tony Medic paced the Fighting Irish with 18. Sean Kuban added 13.

In the other semi, the North Surrey Spartans defeated the Coquitlam Centennial Centaurs 67-49 as Blair Gibson scored 28 and post Shawn Kalinovich 21. Kevin Parkinson paced the Centaurs with 18. Paul Parolin added 11.

In the bronze medal match, the Vancouver College Fighting Irish dispatched the Coquitlam Centennial Centaurs 80-77 in double-overtime as Tony Medic scored 20, Doug Correa 20 and Stuart Robinson 16. Kevin Parkinson paced the Centaurs with 26. Greg Nyte added 16, Paul Parolin 14 and Brian Brown 14.

        The top-ranked Abbotsford Panthers captured their first provincial crown after 18 tournament appearances, as the Larry Clarkson and Dave Lescheid-led squad breezed through the tournament with double-digit victory margins, thumping the North Surrey Spartans 68-54 in the final. Coached by Norm Bradley, assisted by Sam Vandermeulen, who’d played in the 1964 final which Abbotsford had lost by two points, the Panthers started 6-7 centre Larry Clarkson, point guard Chico Duncan, guard Bob Fehr, small forward Surinder Sarowa and forward Dave Lescheid. Meeting for the fourth time in the season, Fraser Valley rivals Abbotsford and North Surrey played it close in the first half, with Abbotsford ahead 30-28 at the break. But they pulled away in the fourth quarter outscoring the Spartans 28-16 in the final eight minutes to finish 36-1 on the season. Dave Lescheid scored 19, Surinder Sarowa 16, Chico Duncan 15, Bob Fehr 12, Larry Clarkson 4 and Sukhvinder ‘Ace’ Brar 2. Panthers coach Norm Bradley told the Abbotsford News that “there was no way Panthers would let anyone beat them. They’ve worked too hard this season.” Leischeid noted “it’s still a dream,” while Clarkson called it “unbelievable.” The Panthers led 22-16 after one quarter and 40-38 after three quarters. North Surrey was led by Shawn Kalinovitch’s 26 points, although the star guard only scored two field goals in the second half. Blair Gibson added 12, Jay Sidhu 8, Kevin Rokosh 4, Ian David 2 and Mark Avery 2. Abbotsford was coached by Norm Bradley and assisted by Sam Vandermeulen, who’d set the tournament scoring record with 58 points in a consolation game in 1965 for the Panthers.
