In the opening round, held in Kaslo, the 8th-seeded Chilliwack Unity Christian Flames defeated the 9th-seeded South Slocan Mt. Sentinel Wildcats 53-49 as Tiffany Boswell scored 18. Laurisha Bardal led the Huskies with 17. …………………………………………………… The 10th-seed Osoyoos Rattlers dumped the 7th-seed Pemberton Red Devils 63-38 as Jennifer Farinha scored 23 and Sandra Castanho 16. Ashley Sankey led the Red Devils with 18.

        In the quarterfinals, the top-seeded Kelowna Immaculata Mustangs defeated the 8th-seeded Chilliwack Unity Christian Flames 76-50. The Mustangs came out hot scoring 22, including 10 by Katie Woodman. Unity rallied to within 38-31 at the half but the Mustangs put the game out of reach with an 11-0 run in the final quarter.

        The 3rd-seed host Kaslo J.V. Humphries Eagles crushed the 6th-seeded Prince George Cedars Christian Eagles 83-59. The game started off as a tight battle with both teams tied at 4. But Humphries coach George Lord called a time out and his troops responded with an 11-0 run to take command despite being in foul trouble. Humphries led 43-31 at the half and 61-46 after three quarters. The players of the game were Esther Wiebe from Cedars, and Alison Leathwood from J.V.H.

        The 5th-seed Smithers Bulkley Valley Christian Royals dumped 4th-seed defending champ Victoria Pacific Christian Pacers 80-67. The Royals led 22-14 after one quarter as Charlene Barendregt scored 12. They extended their lead to 44-23 at the half and romped.

        In the last quarterfinal, the 2nd-seeded Langley Credo Christian Kodiaks whipped 10th-seed Osoyoos Rattlers 66-38 in a one-sided affair. Osoyoos was outmatched by Credo’s height and trailed by as many as 25. Players of the game were Leah Vreugdenhil of Credo and Jessica Farinha of Osoyoos.

        In the semis, the top-seeded Kelowna Immaculata Mustangs dumped the Smithers Bulkley Valley Christian Royals 76-67. The Mustangs scored first 2 buckets and put on a full court press but Bulkley Valley adapted to the press and rallied within 28-24 after one quarter. Immaculata led 40-34 at the half but the Royals rallied to take a 54-53 lead after three quarters on a Hail Mary trey by Melissa Hofsink. The game stayed tight but the Mustangs took a 4-point lead in the first 5 minutes of the 4th and held on for the win. Tanya Hofsink led the Royals with 25. Charlene Barendregt added 23. Royals coach John Bronsema told The Internior News “that was just a great all-around game. Lots of offence both says, defence both ways. It was just great basketball. It could have easily been us but they were making their shots. … and our shooting percentage wasn’t as high.”

        In the other semi, the Kaslo J.V. Humphries Eagles nipped the Langley Credo Christian Kodiaks 69-66. The Eagles built a 15-14 lead after one quarter but Credo used its height and perimeter shooting to build a six-point edge. Humphries clawed back to knot the score at 40. With 7:04 left Angie Hayward got fouled on a 3-point attempt and hit 2-3 to tie the score at 54 and then a trey to give Humphries the lead with a minute to play. Credo stole the ball and raced for a layup and then stole it again on the in-bounds play but Sharon McGeorge stepped in front of the Credo player to draw a charging foul with 7 seconds left to ice the win. Players of the game were Luanne Vreugdenhill of Credo, who scored 15, and Angie Hayward of Humphries, who scored 35. Vreugdenhill led the Kodiaks with 15. Janina Veldman added 14, Katrina Veldman 11 and Renee Bontkes 10.

        In the bronze medal match, the Langley Credo Christian Kodiaks defeated the Smithers Bulkley Valley Christian Royals 69-55 as Joni Bredenhof scored 14. The Kodiaks led 33-32 at the half. Kodiak guard Luanne Vreugdenhill told the Langley Advance that “we were disappointed (not to win the tournament) but it’s good for our first year. Next year, hopefully we’ll get it.” The Royals (coached by John Bronsema) also included Tanya Hofsink, Charlen Barendregt, Tara McEwen, Janelle Van Driel.

        In the final, the 2nd-seeded Kaslo J.V. Humphries Eagles stunned the top-seeded Kelowna Immaculata Mustangs 88-77 in double overtime. The Eagles led 15-12 after one quarter, by six at the half and 53-43 after three quarters. As Immaculata’s pressure mounted, the Eagles started to slip. The Mustangs closed the gap with an 8-0 run and then tied the score at 61 on a Katie Woodman jumper with 28 seconds to play. The Eagles got an opportunity to win with just 0.5 seconds left, but failed to get off a good shot. In the first overtime, the Mustangs went ahead 69-65, but the Eagles responded with a 4-0 run. Immaculata hit a bucket with less than a minute left to lead 71-69. With 36.1 seconds left, Alison Leathwood scored to tie and the teams went into the 2nd overtime period. Humphries ripped off a 10-2 run but with 2:49 left, Katie Woodman went down with a sprained ankle and had to be helped off the floor. The Mustangs scored again and added a foul shot to make it 81-76. Immaculata, sensing they were in trouble with 2 minutes to go, started to foul to stop the clock. Humphries iced it at the foul line to win their first provincial title. Leathwood finished with 38 points and 18 boards.
