In the quarterfinals, held in Fort Nelson, the Keremeos Similkameen Sparks defeated the Kaslo J.V. Humphries Eagles x-x.
The 3rd-seeded Kamloops Christian Eagles dispatched the Prince George Bishop O’Grady Catholic Totems 76-69 as Bridget Linder scored 22 and nabbed 22 boards. The Totems included Nicole Lavalee.
The Fort Nelson Huskies dispatched the Shawnigan Lake Stags 69-62. The Stags included Ali Twiss, Isabelle Czerveniak, Audrey Doyle, Val Gillaland.
In the last quarterfinal, the Smithers Bulkley Valley Christian Royals clipped the North Vancouver St. Thomas Aquinas Fighting Saints 56-43.
In the semis, the Keremeos Similkameen Sparks torched the Smithers Bulkley Valley Christian Royals 80-45. Royals coach John Bronsema told The Interior News “they played great and we didn’t.”
In the other semi, the Kamloops Christian Eagles whipped the Fort Nelson Huskies 79-58 as Bridget Linder scored 24.
In the bronze medal match, the host Fort Nelson Huskies clipped the Smithers Bulkley Valley Christian Royals 75-65. The Royals (coached by John Bronsema) included Carmen McEwan, Carolyn Adema.
In the final, Keremeos Similkameen Sparks defeated the 3rd-seeded Kamloops Christian Eagles 65-44. Eagle forward Bridget Linder told Kamloops This Week that “they outrebounded us, outhustled us. They’re mainly Grade 12s, they had more desire. They were an excellent team. They deserved it. They worked a lot harder than we did. … Second-place? You can only ask for one more better than that.”
