In the final, the West Vancouver Collingwood Cavaliers defeated the Enderby A.L. Fortune Falcons 34-32 to avenge a loss in the 1995 championship match. The Falcons led 8-7 after one quarter. The score was knotted at 20 at the half. The Cavaliers led 28-26 after three quarters. Collingwood led 34-30 with two minutes to play and held on for the win, though Bonny Purnell trimmed the margin to two with a pair of free throws. Bonny Purnell paced the Falcons with 18. Marilyn Abel added 4 and Lindsay Everatt 4. Falcons coach Chuck McTavish told the Vernon Morning Star “our shooting went ice cold. It was our worst shooting game of the year by far. We had three or four chances to tie it with 1.5 minutes to go but we couldn’t get the ball to fall. … We played really well defensively. We just couldn’t get our shooting on track.” McTavish told the Salmon Arm Observor that “we played great defensively but came out cold offensively. That’s never happened before this season.”
