In the quarterfinals, the top-seeded Victoria Glenlyon-Norfolk Gryphons defeated the 9th-seeded Abbotsford St. Jean Brebeuf Bears 83-74. The Bears included Steve Booth, Matt Sweeney, Steve Gaffney.
The 6th-seeded Victoria Pacific Christian Pacers nipped the 3rd-seeded South Slocan Mt. Sentinel Wildcats 63-60.
The 5th-seeded Chilliwack Highroad Academy Knights whipped the 4th-seeded Houston Christian Wildcats 91-54. The Wildcats (coached by Marshall Duzan) included Ryan Ewald, Zach Duzan.
In the last quarterfinal, the 2nd-seeded Langley Christian Lightning stomped the 10th-seeded West Vancouver Mulgrave Titans 70-45.
In the semis, the 6th-seeded Victoria Pacific Christian Pacers edged the 2nd-seeded Langley Christian Lightning 54-52. Lightning coach Darcy Langelaar told the Langley Advance that “Pacific Christian played their best game of the season in their last four games. That wasn’t the case for us. … Our offence didn’t play as well as I thought it could have.”
In the other semi, the top-seeded Victoria Glenlyon-Norfolk Gryphons whipped 5th-seeded Chilliwack Highroad Academy Knights 79-49.
In the bronze medal match, 5th-seed Chilliwack Highroad Academy Knights dumped the 2nd-seeded Langley Christian Lightning 62-42. The Lightning (coached by Darcy Langelaar) included Ryan Hogenes, Robbie Stoker, Grady Killick, Ken Wong, Charles Chen, Keith Folkerts, Brandon Pater, Michael Plantinga and Andrew Still.
In the final, the 6th-seeded Victoria Pacific Christian Pacers defeated top-seeded Victoria Glenlyon-Norfolk Gryphons 68-65 as Jake Wale scored 26. There were four lead changes in the fourth quarter. The Pacer sled 17-16 after one quarter but the Gryphons ripped off a 17-5 run and took a 35-29 lead at the half. Dustin Ryan hit a long jumper for the Pacers at the buzzer at the three-quarter mark. But the difference was Wale, who took command in the third quarter, scoring 10. Wale gave the Pacers a 66-62 lead with three minutes to play on a spinning-left hand layup. Gryphon Kobei Shigehara responded with a trey. Pacers guard Joel Schat block a final shot by the Gryphons. Pacers coach James Sijpheer told the Abbotsford News that “they had beaten us three times this year and we had only beaten them once. In order to win the game, we knew we had to hold them to 65 points or less – they scored exactly 65.” Tyler Thorau led the Gryphons with 19.
