In the quarterfinals, the host and top-seeded North Vancouver St. Thomas Aquinas Fighting Saints stomped the New Aiyansh Nisga’a Chiefs 138-51 as Aaron Dohm scored 32 (also reported as 33). Leonard MacKay led the Wolfpack with 16. The Chiefs (coached by Tom Wilkinson) included Ben Watts, Mark Wilson, Trevor Azak, Leonard Mckay, Shawn Ducharme, Zachary Munroe, Allan Lambright, Gary Dyer, Todd Ducharme, Chad Squires and Matthew Wesley.
The Vancouver St. Patrick’s Celtics dispatched the Osooyos Rattlers 92-83 in overtime as Mike Heard scored 29. Bruno Oliveira led the Rattlers with 24.
The Chemainus Cougars defeated the Dawson Creek Ron Pettigrew Christian Lions 88-86 in overtime as Keith Valley scored 47. David Schmidt led the Lions with 38. The Lions also included Nathan Bailey.
In the last quarterfinal, the Langley Credo Christian Kodiaks clipped the New Denver Lucerne Lakers 85-70 as Mark Bontkes scored 27. Trenton Desjarbis led the Lakers with 20.
In the semis, the North Vancouver St. Thomas Aquinas Fighting Saints torched the Langley Credo Christian Kodiaks 100-72. The Fighting Saints led 23-21 after one quarter and 57-44 at the half. Steve Thiessen paced the Kodiaks with 21.
In the other semi, the Vancouver St. Patrick’s Celtics edged the Chemainus Cougars 66-65.
In the bronze medal match, the Chemainus Cougars edged the Langley Credo Christian Kodiaks 74-73. The Kodiaks (coached by Bob Hellewell) included Alan Leyenhorst, Mark Bontkes, Jamie Hellewell, Steve Tiessen.
In the final, led by point guard Rhys Campbell, centre Mike Bartos and forward Aaron Dohm, the North Vancouver St. Thomas Aquinas Saints captured their second title with a 98-54 thrashing of the Vancouver St. Patrick Celtics. The team averaged 109 points in their tourney contests. Rhys Campbell scored 31. The Celtics were led by Mike Heard’s 14 points.
