The Celtics win prevented Abbotsford Christian from winning three in a row as they went on in 1991 to capture their second crown in three years. Andrew Barfoot paced the Celtics with 23. David Ling added 23 and Tony Pomonis 20, while dishing 12 assists. The Celtics led 12-5, 35-26 and 57-44 at the quarters. Stan Vriend paced the Knights with 20. Vince Van Dyk added 20. Knights coach Keith Stewart told the Abbotsford News that “it was a tough loss for us. We had beaten them twice (during the season) in real close games, so we knew it would be close. But Barfoot and Pomonis were unstoppable as they each shot 83% from the field. It’s pretty difficult to beat a team when two players, one a guard, and one a centre, are shooting like that. We played excellent defence and they scored anyway. To top it off, we had a sub-par shooting performance for our team. It’s too bad it had to happen in a provincial final.”
