In the quarterfinals, held in Kamloops, the Abbotsford Christian Knights, who’d entered the tourney with a mediocre 14-13 record, defeated the Fort St. James Falcons 96-93 as Vince Van Dyke scored 29, Jim Reid 14 and Andrew Jansen 10, along with 18 boards. The Knights full-court pressure rattled the Falcons, who also found themselves in early foul trouble. Paul Stark led the Falcons with 18. Fernando Romero added 18 and Terry Teegee 18. The Falcons also included Keith Hampe.

The 3rd-seeded Princeton Rebels defeated the 6th-seeded Ucluelet Warriors 75-67 as Ken Bey scored 22. Lawrence Varga led the Warriors with 25. The Warriors also included Kevin Nixon, K Cortes.

The North Vancouver St. Thomas Aquinas Fighting Saints dispatched the Invermere David Thompson Trojans 72-42 as Rafaelle Penzetta scored 35. Mark Dibny led the Trojans with 11. The Trojans also included Ryan Lodermeir, S Mantyka.

In the last quarterfinal, the Kamloops St. Ann’s Crusaders defeated the Queen Charlotte City Eagles 62-56. The Eagles included Brian Gladstone, J Brown.

In the semis, the Abbotsford Christian Knights thumped the 3rd-seeded Princeton Rebels 97-77 as Andrew Jansen scored 24, Ray Konynenbelt 21 and Jim Reid 21, along with 9 steals. The Knights led 23-15 after one quarter. The Rebels led 41-36 at the half. The Knights shifted to a zone press in the third quarter and took a 66-61 lead. They then ripped off a 16-0 run in the final frame. Jon Northup led the Rebels with 16.

In the other semi, the North Vancouver St. Thomas Aquinas Fighting Saints defeated the Kamloops St. Ann’s Crusaders 59-45 as Raffaele Panzetta scored 28. Paul Patterson led the Crusaders with 17.

In the bronze medal match, the Princeton Rebels defeated the host Kamloops St. Ann’s Crusaders 69-59 as T Bey scored 23. Paul Patterson led the Crusaders with 23. The Crusaders also included Scott Galloway.

In the final, the Abbotsford Christian Knights captured the second A tournament, knocking off the top-seeded North Vancouver St. Thomas Aquinas Fighting Saints and 6-8 star Raffaele Panzetta by a score of 73-69 in the most improbable of victories. The Fighting Saints took an early 17-4 lead and led 21-16 after one quarter and 34-32 at the half but Abbotsford Christian went on 20-10 tear in the third quarter after they began double-teaming Raffaele Panzetta and easily held on for the win. Abbotsford Christian was paced by Vince Van Dyk’s 20 points. St. Thomas Aquinas was led by 6-8 centre Raffaele Panzetta’s 35. The Knights led 52-44 after three quarters. Knights coach Keith Stewart told the Canadian Press that “I didn’t think we would develop this far.”
