The Chiefs (coached by Mike Weeks, assisted by Doug Sheffield) also included Mauro Vescera, Alan Campbell, Brent Petterson, Bruce Ramus, Roger Fairhurst, Jim Walker, Mark Westlund, Dave McRae, George Riel, Paul Candy, Cameron Bond and Steve Pudney. …………………………………………………… The Creston Prince Charles Comets dumped the Hazelton Spartans 77-68 as Bob Meredith scored 17 and Carl Lawring 17. The Spartans (coached by Bob Wilson) included George Simpson, Brian Muldon, Graham Sebastian. …………………………………………………… The Winfield George Elliott Coyotes dispatched the Midway Boundary Central Roadrunners 73-68 as Gary Gatzke scored 22 and Alan Gatzke 21.

In the quarterfinals, the Vanderhoof Nechako Valley Vikings defeated the Armstrong Pleasant Valley Saints 72-67. The Vikings led 40-26 at the half and appeared in control until Greg Van Dolah fouled out. Armstrong cut the lead to four but Doug Brophy hit a bucket, Wayne Wood ripped down several critical boards and Dave Fehr controlled the tempo as Nechako Valley hung on for the win. Greg Van Dolah paced the Vikings with 22. Dave Fehr added 15 and Wayne Woods 14.

The Hope Mustangs clipped the Creston Prince Charles Comets 79-64. The Mustangs broke to a 16-4 lead and romped. Lance Nicholson paced the Mustangs with 16. Greg Morrow added 15, Chuck Kovacs 14, Don Olds 14, Don Salewski 10, Tony Kitson 4, Fred Hahn 4 and Danny Soares 2. Four Mustangs were sent hom after the quarterfinal for disciplinary reasons. The Comets included Bob Meredith.

The Victoria Reynolds Roadrunners defeated the Winfield George Elliott Coyotoes 73-69 as Bruce Mede scored 31.

In the last quarterfinal, the Revelstoke Mountaineers defeated Vancouver University Hill 77-72.

In the semis, the Vanderhoof Nechako Valley Vikings defeated the Victoria Reynolds Roadrunners 79-36 as Greg Van Dolah, son of coach Ron Van Dolah, scored 26, Wayne Woods 4, Dave Fehr 13 and Oliver Timmins 12. Bruce Mede led the Roadrunners with 14.

In the other semi, the Hope Mustangs defeated the Revelstoke Mountaineers 64-61 as Don Olds scored 16, Roger Medley 16, Chuck Kovacs 15, Fred Hahn 12, and Danny Soares 5, while Gordon Peters and Bruce Robertson were scoreless. The Mustangs played just seven players as a result of the quarterfinal suspensions.

In the bronze medal match, the Revelstoke Mountaineers dispatched the Victoria Reynolds Roadrunners 75-57. The Roadrunners included Bruce Mede, Gary Cook, Perry Walz.

        In the final, the Vanderhoof Nechako Valley Vikings pasted the Hope Mustangs 103-58 as Oliver Timmins scored 23, tourney MVP Greg Van Dolah 22, Mike Hutt 16, Wayne Woods 12 and Dave Fehr 10. The Vikings led 24-10, 56-26 and 86-38 at the quarters. Hope was led by Chuck Kovacs’ 20 points and Don Olds 18. Gordon Peters added 10, Roger Medley 6, Danny Soares 4 and Fred Hahn 2. It was the worst loss ever suffered in B.C. boy’s competition. Hope was playing without four starters, who’d been sent home for disciplinary reasons. The Vikings finished (31-4) on the season.
