In the quarterfinals, held in Kelowna, the Houston Wolverines (then the Shadows) edged the Rossland Royals 59-58 as Dan Janzen scored 20. The Royals included Glen Armstrong

        The Barriere Cougars clipped the Vanderhoof Nechako Valley Vikings 53-41 as Howard Fortier scored 18. Mark Clifford led the Vikings with 9. John Gwilliam added 8, Blake Kennington 6, Mark Ciccone 6, Larry Svenson 6, David Van Dolah 4 and Glen Van Winkle 2. The Vikings (coached by Ron Van Dolah) also included Vern Reimer, Lyle Jansen, Matt Hall, Mark Derksen and Jeff Johnson.

        The Shawinigan Lake Stags dispatched the Kelowna Immaculata Regional Mustangs 90-69 as Mike Voegtlin scored 29 and Rod Fratwell 21.

        In the last quarterfinal, the Garibaldi Rebels defeated the Invermere David Thompson Lakers 81-59 as Walter Koraith (Kornath?) scored 26 and Don Herman 26. The Lakers included Joey Ambrosi, Jacques Cabelguen.

        In the semis, the Houston Wolverines thrashed the Shawnigan Lake Stags 76-51. The Stags shot .250 from the floor.

        In the other semi, the Garibaldi Rebels defeated the Barriere Cougars 76-58 as Don Herman scored 22 and Walter Konath 21.

        In the bronze medal match, the Shawnigan Lake Stags clubbed Barriere Cougars 95-61 as American student Mike Voegtlin scored 48. The Stags led 48-30 at the half. The Cougars included Howard Fortier.

        The Houston Wolverines captured their first AA crown in a thrilling overtime final which saw Richard Lieuwen score four clutch points in the extra period to lead the Shadows to a 68-64 victory over the Garibaldi Rebels. The 6-6 centre hit a field goal and then two free throws with the score tied at 62 after regulation play. Garibaldi’s Barry Johnson cut the margin to one with a field goal but 6-5 Don Janzen iced the victory with two free throws. The close contest had seen Garibaldi lead 20-19 at the three-quarter mark. Houston was paced by Dan Nordquist’s 20 points, Janzen’s 14 and Lieuwen’s 12. Garibaldi was led by Walter Konath’s 12 points.
