The Pride watched the Ceinahs miss eight free throws as they tried to rally from an eight-point deficit with two minutes to play but then missed two themselves that would have forced overtime. “We battled, eight down with two minutes to go you usually don’t get a chance to tie and we had a couple chances,” Pride coach Terry Hanna told the Lethbridge Herald. “It’s a little disappointing, especially when you’re the host team, the girls really wanted to win this one.” The Pride led 28-26 at the half but Taylor Pardell wreaked havoc for the Ceinahs as they opened the second half with a 14-8 run. “She had a very good game, she’s really picked it up the second half of the season,” Ceinahs coach Colleen Blimke said. “She’s got wheels, so she can really get around the floor and she did a great job defensively.” Pardell’s third steal for a runout layup and a Jaelle Duinker trey gave the Ceinahs a 47-39 lead with 11 minutes to play. But the Pride rallied behind a pair of treys from Jayme Steed. She fouled on a trey with 42 seconds remaining and hit two of her free throws. The Pride stole the inbounds pass and Laura Hanna hit a bucket that would have given the Pride a 59-57 lead but the Kate Andrews bench called timeout and it was negated. The Ceinahs missed two free throws and then Pride guard Kyla Conway hit just one of two free throws to make the score 59-58. The Ceinahs then added an insurance marker. Jaelle Duinker paced the Ceinahs with 15, Taylor Pardell 13 and Tia Gerwatoski 12. Lauren Hanna led the Pride with 15. Jayme Steed added 10.
