Lori-Ann King led the Miners with 14. Miners coach Pam Joselin told Fort McMurray Today that “we may have been outsized but the game still came down to the last 30 seconds. They girls played their hearts out.” The Miners (coached by Joslin) also included Andrea Goodyear, Colleen Leinweber, Janet Kohlsmith, Tracey Kohlsmith, Rejoice Apedoe, Najina Karamujic.

In the quarterfinals, held in Calgary, the Magrath Pandas dusted the Camrose Trojans 65-41 as Kim Pilling scored 28 and nabbed 15 boards. Cynthia Bourne added 11 and Jennifer Cook 10. Maxine Migaic led the Trojans with 12. The Trojans also included Nancy Gibson.

In the semis, the Edmonton Archbishop Macdonald Marauders edged the Magrath Pandas 72-69 as Nicki Rees scored 19. Kim Pilling led the Pandas with 21. Melissa Peterson added 19 and Cynthia Bourne 16. The Marauders led 45-35 at the half but McGrath rallied to within one with 30 seconds to play. “We felt good about coming back and giving them a game,” said Magrath coach Dave Lowry. “We had them groping for a while.”

In the other semi, the Stettler William E. Hay Wildcats defeated the St. Albert Paul Kane Blues x-x.

In the bronze medal match, the Magrath Pandas defeated the St. Albert Paul Kane Blues 61-46 as Kim Pilling scored 28 and nabbed 14 boards. Melissa Peterson added 12, along with 9 boards. “I was very pleased,” Pandas coach Dave Lowry told the Lethbridge Herald. “The team that beat us went on to win the provincials. 1 felt we were the second-best team in the tournament and even in defeat we played well.”

In the final, the Edmonton Archbishop MacDonald Marauders pounded the Stettler William E. Hay Wildcats 68-35 as Trish Hague scored 22 and Nicki Rees 20. Laura Anderson paced the Wildcats with 17.
