In the quarterfinals, held in Red Deer, the Coaldale Kate Andrews Larks clipped the Grande Prairie St. Joseph’s Ceinahs 55-44 (also reported as 52-41) as Karen Perry scored 22. Nicole Plandowski led the Ceinahs with 14. Shelley Thiessen added 13. The Ceinahs (coached by Patrick McDonald and John Witschen) also included Jackie Hiebert, Michelle Hiebert.

       The Sherwood Park Archbishop Jordan Scots clocked the Red Deer Camille J. LeRouge Cougars 77-48 as Lisa Storoz scored 14, Gian Zsombar 11, Stacey McPhail 9, Dawn Anderson 9 and Denise Skinner 9. Michelle Coppens paced the Cougars with 10. Francine Stubbs added 9, Sheelagh Docherty 8, Elaine Clearhout 8 and Lynn Melnyk 7. The Scots broke to a 25-6 lead and romped. They led 44-20 at the half. Cougars coach Graham Keogh told the Red Deer Advocate that “I think we were intimidated early in the game. There was no reason for it but we were. Maybe the girls weren’t prepared well enough. … We got outhustled early. We were consistently being beaten to the ball. And there was no execution on our part. The guards were coughing up the ball and the forwards were missing layups.” Scots coach Pat O’Connor said “we told the girls to come out and quiet down the crowd early.” The Cougars (coached by Keogh) also included Chanelle Stubbs, Cathy Harach, Jenny Mattheys and Leanne Draves, Cathy Harach.

        The Okotoks Foothills Falcons defeated nipped the Sherwood Park Bev Facey Falcons 63-62 as Carmel Brooks scored 26. Bonnie Blanchette led Facey with 18. Chris Chomiak added 17.

        In the last quarterfinal, the Calgary Bowness Trojans edged the Lloydminster Barons 52-51 as Brenda Mickelson scored 24. Pam Osika led the Barons with 27.

        In the semis, the Sherwood Park Archbishop Jordan Scots thrashed the Coaldale Kate Andrews Larks 65-49. Wendy Sandberg led the Larks with 18. Kerry Ryan added 12.

        In the other semi, the Calgary Bowness Trojans defeated the Okotoks Foothills Falcons 52-48.

        In the bronze medal match, the Coaldale Kate Andrews Larks dumped the Okotoks Foothills Falcons 59-51 as Wendy Sandberg scored 19, Karen Perry 14 and Kerry Ryan 13. “I was really pleased,” Larks’ coach Corinne Parsons said. “They really played well.”

In the final, the Sherwood Park Archbishop Jordan Scots clipped the Calgary Bowness Trojans 63-53 as Lisa Storoz scored 24, Karen Siwak 12 and Dawn Anderson 11. Anita Briscoe led the Trojans with 20. Scots coach Pat O’Connor told the Red Deer Advocate that “I always thought we had the potential to win this thing.” Siwak gave the Scots a 49-47 lead with a steal and a runout layup and Jordan never looked back. O’Connor said “a few kids came off the bench tonight and got us rolling. We had a couple of three-point plays to start the rally and really pressed them after that. With our press, a team eventually breaks.”
