In the semis, the Edmonton Archbishop MacDonald Marauders edged the Lethbridge Catholic Central Cittens 48-45. “They were big and outrebounded us,” said Cittens coach Cal O’Brien. “We played well, though, and I was happy with our kids. The most impressive ball player for us was Romina Feher. She picked up the slack after Theresia Kinahan was hurl. They will likely have to operate on Theresia this week. She tore the muscles right off the bone on her knee. Losing her was basically the whole story why we lost.” Dawn Fry led the Cittens with 14. Dori Rodzinyak added 12.

In the other semi, the St. Albert Skyhawks dumped the Medicine Hat McCoy Colts 34-29. Colts co-coach Greg Bischoff told the Medicine Hat News “we led that whole game quite comfortably. At the three-quarter mark we led by about five, and St. Albert took the lead with about a minute and 40 seconds to go. They put on a full court press and got a couple of steals, and that was it. We really felt disappointed. We had the lead and we just let it slip right through our fingers.”

In the bronze medal match, the Lethbridge Catholic Central Cittens clipped the Medicine Hat McCoy Colts 48-30. “It was a walk, we blew them out,” Cittens coach Cal O’Brien told the Lethbridge Herald. “We played all our kids. We were disappointed at not winning, but the breaks didn’t go our way. But we will be back. We had a good year and ended up 31-4 on the season.” The Colts (co-coached by Greg Bischoff and Jeannette MacMillan) included Barb Jakubowski, Beth O’Fee, Janice Cooke, Darla Anhelher, Michele Cote.

In the final, the Edmonton Archbishop MacDonald Marauders defeated the St. Albert Skyhawks 47-32 as Toni Kordic scored 15. Marauders coach Ron Kutney told the Edmonton Journal that “usually it’s two southern teams playing in the final. The traditional powerhouses are usually from the south.”
