In the opening round, held in Lloydminster, the 7th-seeded Lethbridge Winston Churchill Bulldogs edged the 10th-seeded host Lloydminster Barons 70-69 on a buzzer beating desperation trey by Ricardo Magliocco. It was the Bulldogs first lead of the game. “I didn’t expect a buzzer shot, but I did expect them to come out strong, being the host team,” Winston Churchill coach Neil Langevin told the Lethbridge Herald. “We knew they’d be pumped, and they’ve been as high as four in the rankings. I like winning with the buzzer, but I’d rather do it a different way.” The Bulldogs trailed by 15 points with eight minutes to play and were down by five with eight seconds to play. The miracle finish started when A.J. Jeanaotte was fouled on a three-point try and converted all three free throws. On the ensuing inbounds play, Jordan Kallen intercepted a length of court pass, pitched it to Magiocco, who hit the winner as time expired. In the quarterfinals, the 2nd-seeded Camrose Trojans clocked the 7th-seeded Lethbridge Winston Churchill Bulldogs 94-56. The Bulldogs were whistled for 39 fouls. The Trojans were in the bonus after seven minutes of play. Ricardo Magliocco paced the Bulldogs with 21. Jordan Kallen added 15. The Bulldogs (coached by Neil Langevin) also included A.J. In the last quarterfinal, the Airdrie Bert Church Chargers whipped the Fort MacMurray Composite Miners 100-80. The Miners (coached by Dave Jaska) included Ahmed Majed, Frigolait Somwe, Mike Gandy.
In the semis, the Airdrie Bert Church Chargers crushed the Ponoka Broncs 80-62.
In the other semi, the Camrose Composite Trojans nipped the Edmonton Louis St. Laurent Barons 66-63.
In the bronze medal match, the Ponoka Broncos smacked the Edmonton Louis St. Laurent Barons 81-52 as Brendan Kusiek scored 23.
In the final, the Airdrie Bert Church Chargers rolled the Camrose Composite Trojans 84-53. Ken Cockshott paced the Trojans with 14. Brendan Kusiek led the Trojans with 23.
