In the quarterfinals, the Hay Lakes Tigers defeated the Marwayne Jubilee Wildcats 47-35 as Kristi Wolashyn scored 13 and April Fox 11. Jill Wheat paced the Wildcats with 12. Hay Lakes built an early 11-4 lead and extended it to 23-14 lead at the half. Marwayne rallied no closer than eight.
The Foremost Forettes defeated the Westlock St. Mary’s Angels 67-58. Foremost led 35-27 at the half and romped to the easy win. Michelle Haugen led the Forettes with 38. Courtney Haugen added 11. Kirsten Molesky paced the Angels with 24.
The Glendon Marquise defeated the New Norway Spartans 68-59 as Meagan Janz scored 23. Kyla Undholm led the Spartans with 22. New Norway led 16-15 after 10 minutes and 32-30 at the half. But Glendon took command early in the second half and romped.
The Lundbreck Livingstone Sabres defeated the Edmonton Parkland Immanuel Christian Penguins 53-52. Parkland led 17-12 early and 31-25 at the half. Lundbreck rallied to knot the score at 38 and then moved ahead 53-46 with two minutes to play. Parkland scored six unanswered points but their rally fell just short. Meredith DeCock led the Sabres with 17. Nicole Caski added 15. Julie Stiksma paced the Penguins with 14.
In the semis, the Hay Lakes Tigers defeated the Foremost Forettes 57-48. Foremost took an early 10-2 lead by Hay Lakes rallied to a 29-24 lead at the half. Foremost knotted the score at 35 before Hay Lakes took command down the stretch.
In the other semi, the Glendon Marquise dumped the Lundbreck Livingstone Sabres 54-49. Lundbreck took an early 10-9 lead before Glendon rallied to a 24-22 lead at the half. The game was close until the final minutes when Glendon inched to a slim lead at 40-38 with eight minutes to play and held on. Ceccil Geissinger, Amanda Tremblay and Meagan Janz each scored 12 to pace the Marquise. Rae Delinte led the Sabres with 10.
In the bronze medal match, the Foremost Forettes defeated the Lundbreck Livingstone Sabres 53-38. Lundbreck opened with 8-0 run. Foremost tied it at 18 on a series of treys before Lundbreck takes 22-21 lead at the half on a buzzer beater. Foremost took command early in second half and pulled away down the stretch.
In the final, the Glendon Marquise defeated the Hay Lakes Tigers 61-56 in double overtime. Glendon took an early 4-2 lead. Hay Lakes countered with a 10-3 run and led 18-17 after one quarter. The score was knotted at 41 after regulation. Glendon leading 48-47 with 13.4 seconds to play in overtime but gets a technical for calling a time out it didn’t have. Hay Lakes hit a free throw to force double overtime at 48-48. Glendon opens second overtime with 10-2 run. Glendon finished the season with a (25-3) record.
