In the quarterfinals, held in Nobleford, the host Noble Central Bladettes clocked the Vermilion St. Jerome’s Spartans 36-20 after leading 13-6, 23-10 and 32-14 at the quarters. Brenda Fellger led the Bladettes with 10. Isabella MacLean added 9. Rose McMillan paced the Spartans with 8. Lorraine Rondeau added 6. “My good kids weren’t playing well,” Bladettes coach Hans Lifowicz said. “But I was very happy with the play of my bench. Four of those girls are off the junior high school team. Our stats showed that Vermillion didn’t make a basket
The Lundbreck Livingstone Sabres crushed the Wanham Wildcats 57-15 after leading 24-6 at the half and 45-11after three quarters. Melody Preston paced the Sabres with 14. Marlene Schlagel added 10. Koreen Tansem and Lee Anne Putio each scored 4 to lead the Wildcats. The Wildcats also included Sandra Sveinunggaaard.
The Acme Redwomen clipped the Niton Niton Junction Riders 42-33 after leading 26-11 at the half and 36-21 after three quarters. Tracy Boake and Joyce Price each scored 12 to pace the Redwomen. Julie Robinson led the Riders with 12. The Riders also included Louise Grycak.
In the last quarterfinal, the New Norway Spartans clocked the Grassy Lake Pantherettes 66-42 as Jackie Brace scored 29 and Katheryn Kundson 12. Val Knibbs led the Pantherettes with 19. Mary Anne Van Kasteren added 13. The Spartans led 13-12, 38-20 and 52-28 at the quarters. “We’ve never shot as well all year as a team as we did against Grassy Lake,” said Spartans coach Gary Schleke. “We play in a 3A league at home, so that gives us some tough competition all year.”
In the semis, the Nobleford Noble Central Bladettes clubbed the Acme Redwomen 45-22 after leading 27-15 at the half. Brenda Fellger led the Bladettes with 14. Diane Cutforth added 11.
In the other semi, the Lundbreck Livingstone Sabres edged the New Norway Spartans 29-14 after leading 17-12 at the half. Melody Preston paced the Sabres with 12. Pam Dumonceau added 10. Jackie Brace led the Spartans with 10.
In the bronze medal match, the New Norway Spartans clipped the Acme Redwomen 50-38 after leading 16-11, 28-15 and 37-27 at the quarters. Jackie Brace led the Spartans with 20. Katheryn Knudson added 12. Carry Hunter led the Redwomen with 14. Betty Hannah added 12.
In the final, the Nobleford Noble Central Bladettes defeated the Lundbreck Livingstone Sabres 49-41 after leading 20-2, 20-10 and 35-25 at the quarters. Brenda Fellger led the Bladettes with 15. Isabelle MacLean added 12. Joanne Thibert led the Sabres with 9.
