In the quarterfinals of a seven-team draw, held in Drumheller for schools with enrolments under 100, the Sylvan Lake H.G. Cody Lakers received a bye (but played an exhibition game against a team from Yellowknife, N.W.T.)
The Morrin Meteorites dispatched the Rosemary Rockets 55-27 as Pat Ridley scored 32 and Marion McNaughton 13. Doreen Heggie led the Rockets with 9. The Rockets (coached by Jack Olsen) also included Carol Klassen, Sherry Dunbar, Kayneta Sorenson, Judy Janzen, Myrna Dunbar, Lyla Sorenson, Darlene White, Donna Gabert, Marilyn Lund, Janet Kesler and Judy Jones.
The Ardmore Huskies edged Edmonton Horse Hill 32-30 as Helen Sikoski scored 14 and Helen Schmidt 10. Terry Steer led the Huskies with 16.
In the last quarterfinal, the Forestburg Forettes defeated Picture Butte 25-21. Picture Butte included Barbara Juris, Sandra Tratch.
In the semis, the Morrin Meteorites pounded the Ardmore Huskies 49-25 as Pat Ridley scored 32. The Meteorites led 13-6, 24-14 and 40-21 at the quarters. Helen Schmidt led the Huskies with 7. Evelyn Sikorski added 6.
In the other semi, the Forestburg Forettes dusted the Sylvan Lake H.G. Cody Lakers 52-17 after leading 26-11 at the half and 34-16 after three quarters. Barbara Bunney paced the Forettes with 14. Irene Martin added 10. Darlene Lund led the Lakers with 6. Linda Southern added 4.
There is no evidence of a bronze medal playoff.
In the final, the Morrin Meteorites defeated the Forestburg Forettes 26-25 as Pat Ridley scored 13. Barbara Bunney paced the Forettes with 12. The Forettes led 9-2 after one quarter.
