The 2nd-seeded Vegreville St. Mary’s Saints defeated the Calgary Christian Cougars x-x. The Cougars (coach Stan Hielema, coach Mike Reitsma) included Mark Muller, Jeff Toews, Matthew Weening, Warren Foley, Troy Eyk, Jeremy Meyer, Aaron Vanderveen, Kevin Hagens, Joshua Falk, Chris Reitsma, Scott Vanderwerff, Anthony Worman and Michael Kuiken.
The Niton Junction Riders dispatched the Fairview St. Thomas More Kodiaks x-x.
In the last quarterfinal, the 4th-seeded Acme Redmen defeated the host Bawlf Wildcats x-x. The Wildcats (coach Ron Wilson, assistant Dave Sereda, manager Jamie Mohler) included Richard Bowie, Trevor Cunningham, Isaak Berg, Dayle Bergquist, Adam Lenius, Bart Orr, Cory Lucas, Tim George, Reg Baumle, Chris Drader, Jim Rae and Brian Tomaszewski.
In the semis, the Vegreville St. Mary’s Saints edged the Acme Redmen 91-89.
In the other semi, the Lundbreck Livingstone Sabres clipped the Niton Junction Riders 8-64.
In the bronze medal match, the Acme Redmen defeated the Niton Junction Riders 71-67.
In the final, the Vegreville St. Mary’s Saints defeated the Lundbreck Livingstone Sabres 98-89. The Sabres trailed by 35 in the second half but rallied late within 4. “The guys just never quit,” Sabres’ coach Paul Erickson told the Lethbridge Herald. “They believed they could do it and they almost did.” Gerald Erickson led the Sabres with 42.
