In the quarterfinals, the 3rd-seeded Lethbridge Collegiate Institute Clipper Queens stomped 6th-seeded Calgary William Aberhart Trojans 83-43. The Clipper Queens built a 44-14 lead at the half on solid ball movement and pressure. “We got a lot of turnovers off our press which really helped get us some easy baskets in the first half,” said Clipper Queens coach Larry Baker. “All we knew about (Aberhart) was they were big inside and we heard their guards were small, so we put a lot of pressure on them. We shut down their number 12 (Krista Kinsman). … She hardly touched the ball and we rebounded as well as we have all year.” Rachel Evans led the Clipper Queens with 19. Still, we did a good job and broke their press on a number of occasions.” Lazenby said “our passing really hurt us. We still had a good team effort, but the little things did us in.” Falcons coach Gerald Chung said “the girls were tight in the first half. really pleased with Erin’s performance. She hasn’t shot this well before, but she and I always knew it was possible. She had the biggest bucket of the game to stop their run when they went from 17 to seven. I’m very proud.” The titans hit 27-53 from the floor. Robbie Innes paced the Clipper Queens with 13. “Experience was the key,” said Clipper Queens coach Larry Baker. “But my kids never gave up. We win as a team and we lose as a team.”
