In the quarterfinals, held in Edmonton at the University of Alberta, the Grande Prairie St. Joseph’s Ceinahs dumped the Edmonton Bonnie Doon Lancers 63-36. The Ceinahs led 28-16 at the half. Kathy Prochnau led the Lancers with 16. The Lancers included Kathy Prochnau, Shelley May, Carol Lee, Lois Kincaide, Sharlene Daegan, Shauna Dobson.

        The Calgary E.P. Scarlett Lancers defeated the Sherwood Park Salisbury Sabres 41-34.

        The Calgary Bishop Carroll Cardinals dusted the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute Clipper Queens 62-33. The Cardinals led 23-16 at the half. Leeann DeGroot paced the Cardinals with 14. Irish O’Connell added 12 and Ingeborg Pot 12. Wendy Watson led the Clipper Queens with 12. Angela Orr added 8. The Clipper Queens (coached by Doug Kempt) also included Karen Stetar, Jodi Gibsen, Sabrina Seitz, Megan Nowlin, Melissa Kotlas, Sheila Skolrood, Chris Peters, Karen Oliver, Mary Hewitt, Maria Loucks and Melissa Kotkas.

        In the last quarterfinal, the Edmonton M.E. Lazerte Voyageurs nipped the Medicine Hat Kwahommies 41-40. The Kwahommies (coached by Don Mitchell) included Karen Bongaards, Kathy Ferguson, Cathy Stolson, Dawna Miller, Maureen Cote, Carrie Klaudt, Tammy Jangula.

        In the semis, the Edmonton M.E. Lazerte Voyageurs defeated the Calgary E.P. Scarlett Lancers 44-36.

        In the other semi, the Calgary Bishop Carroll Cardinals nipped the Grande Prairie St. Joseph’s Ceinahs 42-41. Ceinah Louise Vant Erve had a runout with four seconds to play but the ball spun around the rim twice before falling off. Ceinahs coach Patrick McDonald told the Grande Prairie Herald Tribune that “it just wasn’t in the cards for us. It wasn’t a bad shot or anything. It just didn’t go down for us.”

        In the bronze medal match, the Grande Prairie St. Joseph’s Ceinahs clipped the Calgary E.P. Scarlett Lancers 48-37. The Lancers (coached by Tom Sorenson) included Karla Karch, Sue Kirbyson, Jane Olson, Carrie Van Der Linden, Sandra Scott.

In the final, the Edmonton M.E. Lazerte Voyageurs defeated the Calgary Bishop Carroll Cardinals 49-45 in overtime as Leeann Lennon scored 18, including the bucket that forced overtime and a pair of buckets in the extra period. Voyageurs coach Norah Triska told the Edmonton Journal that “yes, I was worried. I knew if we got too far down, we wouldn’t be able to come back. So I knew that we had to start scoring. We were tense at the beginning of the game. But I think we were more emotional than they were and that’s why were able to come back.”
