The Ceinahs led by 18 but were left with just four players on the floor in the final quarter because of fouls. The Knights rallied to within three but could not overcome the deficit. Ceinahs coach Patrick McDonald told the Grande Prairie Herald Tribune that “it would have been awful to lose that game. … But they never panicked, even when they only had four players on the floor.”

Ceinahs coach Patrick McDonald told the Grande Prairie Herald Tribune that “I feel quite honoured to be their coach. … It was a total team effort. I don’t even want to mention individuals … I feel this is a team not only Grande Prairie but all Alberta can be proud of. This is the finest team I have ever coached.” The Ceinahs led 10-5, 23-22 and 33-30 at the quarters and in the final quarter shifted to a zone. The Ceinahs hit 15-58 from the floor and 12-18 from the line. The Clipper Queens hit 16-34 from the floor and 4-10 from the line. McDonald said “I thought the turning point was when we went to a zone. They were quite tired after we played them man-to-man and made them run.
