In a best-of-three challenge series to enter the draw, the Grande Prairie Composite Totems dispatched the Edmonton Archbishop O’Leary Spartans 66-43; 40-42; 68-43 (2g-1).

In the quarterfinals, held in Edmonton, the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute Clipper Queens defeated the Calgary Western Canada Redmen x-x. The Redmen (coached by Lawrence King) included Louise Gallie, Holly Boettger, Atkinson.

        The Edmonton Bonnie Doon Lancers dispatched the Brooks Buffaloes 56-26. The Buffaloes included Sharon McNally.

        The Calgary E.P. Scarlett Lancers defeated the Grande Prairie Composite Totems 46-40. Totems coach Ann McLeod told the Grande Prairie Herald Tribune that after the challenge series against O’Leary (played one day earlier), “we were dead, emotionally and physically, and actually never played close to form until the last quarter. The Totems (coached by McLeod) included Kim Jefferey, Debbie Ophus, Nancy Spencer, Janet Bosscha, Joanne Head, Annabelle Wright, Barbara Wright, Lou Boudreault, Alice Deering, Danny Alexander and Connie Lazore.

        In the last quarterfinal, the Calgary Central Memorial Rams defeated the Edmonton M.E. Lazerte Voyageurs 59-53.  The Voyageurs (coached by Sandy Wright) included Jean Litven, Eva Mausolf.

        In the semis, the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute Clipper Queens defeated the Calgary Central Memorial Rams x-x.

        In the other semi, the Calgary Dr. E.P. Scarlett Lancers defeated Edmonton Bonnie Doon Lancers 50-32.

        In the bronze medal match, the Calgary Central Memorial Rams edged the Edmonton Bonnie Doon Lancers 42-40 in double-overtime.

        In the final, the Calgary Dr. E.P. Scarlett Lancers defeated the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute Clipper Queens 45-27 (also reported as 47-37). The Lancers finished (27-0) on the season. Lancers coach Al Morgan told the Calgary Herald “it’s been a fantastic season. This team has to be the greatest I’ve ever coached. We were never really threatened in the final. We just played our usual wide-open game and things just turned out the way they have all season.” Lori Chizik paced the Lancers with 22. Linda Neilson added 9 and Debbie Askew 6. “Lori was just outstanding,” Morgan said. “She was all over the court and her outside shooting was just fantastic.”
