In the quarterfinals, held in Lethbridge, the host Lethbridge Collegiate Institute Clipper Queens edged the Grande Prairie Totems 32-27 as Myrna Allert scored 10 and Les Lilja 9. The Totems led 12-6 after one quarter. The Clipper Queens led 20-16 at the half and 24-22 after three quarters. Debbie Ophus led the Totems with 7. Totems coach Ann McLeod told the Grande Prairie Herald Tribune that the noise of the hometown crowd undid her troops. The Totems (coached by Ann McLeod) also included Marg Wright, Linda Borstad, Marg Leslie, Ethel Stark, Angie Collins, E Leslie.
The Calgary Western Canada Redmen nipped the Edmonton St. Francis Xavier Rams 47-44 after leading 14-10, 30-20 and 34-32 at the quarters. Darlene Holomis paced the Redmen with 15. Ruth Letts added 11. Yvonne Van Soest led the Rams with 25.
The Calgary E.P. Scarlett Lancers thrashed the Medicine Hat Co-Eds 70-37. The Lancers broke to a 16-4 lead and were never threatened. Lori Chizik and Dawna Kortgaard each scored 22 to pace the Lancers. Lorraine Sept paced the Co-eds with 15. The Co-eds (coached by Peg Park) also included Faith Rostad, Val Hillman, Cindy Hawthorne.
In the last quarterfinal, the Edmonton M.E. Lazerte Voyageurs smacked the Stettler Cubs 57-37. The Cubs led 14-12 after one quarter. The Voyageurs led 27-15 at the half and 40-31 after three quarters. Norma Slater led the Voyageurs with 16. Sherry Stevenson added 14. Barb Cassidy led the Cubs with 17. The Cubs also included Hazen, Trix Kannekens.
In the semis, the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute Clipper Queens clipped the Calgary Western Canada Redmen 46-36.
In the other semi, the Edmonton M.E. Lazerte Voyageurs clipped the Calgary E.P. Scarlett Lancers 49-43.
In the bronze medal match, the Calgary Western Canada Redmen edged the Calgary E.P. Scarlett Lancers 36-31. The Lancers (coached by Al Morgan) included Lori Chizik, Dawn Kortgaard, Deb Askew, Linda Neilson.
In the final, the Edmonton M.E. Lazerte Voyageurs defeated the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute Clipper Queens 44-40. The Clipper Queens led 9-7 after one quarter and 23-17 at the half. But the tide turned when Les Lilja fouled out at the 4:22 mark of the third quarter. The Voyageurs promptly rallied to a 37-34 lead after the quarter and while the Clipper Queens briefly rallied within 39-38, their hopes faded when Davlyn Last and Connie Frouws also fouled out. The Voyageurs closed it out with a stall. Sherry Stevenson paced the Voyageurs with 12. Jean Litvin and Karen Draper each added 8. Frouws led the Clipper Queens with 17. Last added 6 and Cindy Cann 6. The Voyageurs hit 12-18 from the line and the Clipper Queens 8-10. The Voyageurs capped an undefeated (26-0) season with the title.
