In the quarterfinals, held in Sherwood Park, the Edmonton Jasper Place Rebels pounded the Medicine Hat Kudus 50-38 as Glenda Leach scored 16 and Deborah Dolsky 12. “It wasn’t a very successful trip as far as basketball goes but the girls learned a great deal about the calibre of basketball played at the provincial A level,” Co-eds coach Ed Lucotch told the Medicine Hat News. “The calibre of competition is getting tougher each year. “We just couldn’t seem to get going in the tourney … Our players never seemed to get untracked and certainly didn’t play the calibre of basketball they are capable of playing. One thing I know for sure is that next year if I’m coaching the team again I’ll make sure they have a lot more games under their belts by the time the provincial competition comes around. This year we only played seven games and it certainly showed at the provincial level.” The Co-eds included Joan Andres, Monica Lucotch, Verna Brodin, Trudy VerMeer, Lorraine Sept, Jenny Mack, Marlene Hazelaar, Brenda Rath, Dianne Pederson, Dixie Kusler, Adrianna Van Dyk, Sharon Hirsekorn, Charlene Veale and Val Hillman.
