A four-team draw held in Red Deer.

        In the semis, the Edmonton Ross Sheppard Thunderbirds defeated the Red Deer Lindsay Thurber Raiders 39-31 after leading 16-14 at the half and 27-21 after three quarters. Linda Phillips paced the Thunderbirds with 26 on 10-10 from the line. Marg Ferguson added 6, Connie Saunders 4 and Kathy Ross 3. Callie Hancock led the Raiders with 11. Bev Luke added 8, Maureen Thompson 4, Sharon Bohn 4 and Myrna Olafson 4.

        In the other semi, the Medicine Hat Co-Eds edged the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute Clipper Queens 40-36 in overtime after leading 11-10, 24-18 and 31-27 at the quarters. The score was knotted at 35 after regulation. Lenora Schaffer led the Co-Eds with 27. Joan Smeland added 6, Diane Rasmussen 4 and Peggy Park 3. Diane Bunnage paced the Clipper Queens with 20. Peggy Russell added 8, Sue Haraga 3, LaRee Mossey 2, Linda Dogterom 2 and Linda Hatt 1.

        In the bronze medal match, the Red Deer Lindsay Thurber Raiders defeated the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute Clipper Queens 37-34 after leading 14-7, 22-11 and 32-20 at the quarters. Myrna Olafson paced the Raiders with 8. Sharon Bohn added 8, Jackie Reidy 6, Bev Luke 6, Maureen Thompson 5, Callie Hancock 2 and Janet Gunderson 2. Dianne Bunnage paced the Clipper Queens with 15. Linda Hatt added 10, Peggy Russell 3, Eleanor Swanson 2, Sue Hiraga 2 and LaRee Mossey 2. The Clipper Queens (coached by Marg Clark and managed by Pat Williams) also included Kaslyn Slavich, Jerrye Holland, Eleanor Swanson, Lynette Maynard, Frances Jensen, Heather McDonald and Linda Dogterom.

        In the final, the Edmonton Ross Sheppard Thunderbirds defeated the Medicine Hat Co-eds 33-25. The title warranted a two-paragraph story in the Edmonton Journal, one of which was devoted to saying that the Thunderbirds had gone through the one-day tournament undefeated. The Thunderbirds held the Co-Eds scoreless for most of the third quarter. The Co-Eds led 7-6 after one quarter and 21-18 at the half. The Thunderbirds led 27-21 after three quarters. Linda Phillips paced the Thunderbirds with 16. Connie Saunders added 9, Kathy Ross 4, Gille Peterson 2 and Marg Ferguson 2. Joan Smeland paced the Co-Eds with 11. Lenore Shaffer added 7, Delores Pilsi 5 and Peggy Park 2.
