In the Northeast Alberta play off final, Lloydminster defeated Two Hills 22-15.
In the North central zone playoffs, qualifiers included Concordia College, Fort Saskatchewan. In the Central zone semis, Stettler edged Ponoka 25-23 in triple overtime. The score was knotted at 21 after regulation, at 23 after the first and second overtimes.

In the opening round of the southern Alberta championships, a double-knockout tournament held in Lethbridge, the Picture Butte Deenos edged the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute Clipper Queens 23-22 as Karen Suercek scored 14, Rosella Hervie 5, Toth 2 and Erickson 2, while Price, Bowes, Masuga, Dalgleish, Warren and Gilbert were scoreless. Frances Gow led the Clipper Queens with 12. Melanie Stanko added 4, Smith 3 and Joan Day 3, while Zeman, Devos, Livingston, Janice Day, Waugh and Richards were scoreless.
In round two, the Picture Butte Deenos dispatched the Champion Crusaders 29-20 as Karen Suercek scored 8, Bonnie Maseda 5, Warren 4, Price 4, Gilbert 2 and Erickson 2, while Harvi, Bowes and Dalgleish were scoreless. Freda Hupp led the Crusaders with 11. Beverley Decker added 6, Sheila Treber 2 and Lundberg 1, while Christenson, Puzey, Shirley Treber, Cummins, Rhodes, Nowlin and Hames were scoreless.

In round three, the Masinasin Zeniths whipped the Hillspring Panthers 35-16 as Bernice Harty scored 8, Lorraine Audet 7, Carol Ann Heirath 6, Anna Thielen 4, Alma Thielen 3, Vornbrock 3, Thompson 2 and C Hierath 2, while P Thielen, D Losey, C Losey, Hughson and O’Hara were scoreless. The Medicine Hat Co-eds eliminated the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute Clipper Queens 28-27 as Lily Komosy scored 8, Annie Fischer 5 and Maureen Dunphy 5. Frances Gow led the Clipper Queens with 8. The Champion Crusaders eliminated the Hillspring Panthers 20-19 as Freda Hupp scored 6 and Bev Decker 6. Delia Kapesos led the Blue Bombes with 19.
In round four, the Medicine Hat Co-eds eliminated the Champion Crusaders 48-24 as Annie Fischer scored 9 and Ruth Haskizume 8. Beverley Decker led the Crusaders with 13. Freda Hupp added 9.
The Masinasin Zeniths clocked the Picture Butte Deenos 40-24 as Betty Harty scored 11 and Lorraine Audet 9. Karen Surcek led the Co-Eds with 9. Betty Lou Erickson added 5.
In the semis, the Medicine Hat Co-eds eliminated the Picture Butte Deenos 21-20 as Annie Fischer scored 6 and Lily Komosy 6.
In the final, the Masinasin Zeniths, a small four-room school with no gymnasium and only one room of high school students, captured the title by defeating the Medicine Hat Co-Eds 31-18. Lorraine Audet paced the Zeniths with 8. Carol Ann Heirath added 6. Bonnie Miller led the Co-eds with 7. Leona Macleod added 5.
