In the opening round of a nine-team draw, held in Sylvan Lake: …………………………………………………… The Calgary Christian Hawks defeated the Redwater Renegades 52-48. Melanie Zapesocki led the Renegates with 36, along with 13 steals.

In the quarterfinals, the Edmonton Christian Lions dispatched the Daysland Darls 76-67 as Carrie Pelster scored 26. The Darls included Kelly Blatz.

        The Milk River Erle Rivers Novas whipped the Calgary Christian Hawks 95-36 as Jakki Bellew scored 32, including 7-8 from the arc.

        The Crossfield W.G. Murdoch Trojans dusted the Sylvan Lake H.J. Cody Lakers 74-43 as Kelsey Fessler scored 26. Lindsay Payne paced the Lakers with 13. The Lakers (coached by Ann Rowberry) also included Jenny Swainson, Erica Steinbach, Shannon Magnuson.

        In the last quarterfinal, the Fairview Cobras defeated the Red Deer Notre Dame Cougars 59-52. Katie Johnson led the Cougars with 23.

        In the semis, the Edmonton Christian Lions whipped the Milk River Erle Rivers Novas 68-50.

        In the other semi, the Crossfield W.G. Murdoch Trojans clubbed the Fairview Cobras 68-47 as Jamie Lynn scored 26. Jessica Clavette led the Cobras with 17.

        In the bronze medal match, the Milk River Erle Rivers Novas dumped the Fairview Cobras 66-55 as Julie Linderman scored 17, and Jackie Belew 11, while Jennifer O’Hara dished 7 assists and pilfered 7 balls. Angie Lund and Jessica Clevette each scored 16 for the Cobras.

In the final, the Edmonton Christian Lions defeated Crossfield W.G. Murdoch Trojans 61-49 as Carrie Pelster scored 18 and Carita VandenBorn 18. Kelsey Fesler led the Trojans with 22. Edmonton Christian coach Brian Hofstede told the Red Deer Advocate “this was great. It’s nice to beat them out. Last year, we were up by 20 and they back to beat us, so we were a little nervous.” Murdoch had trimmed a 15-point lead to five down the stretch.
