In the semis, the Hanna J.C. Charyk Hawks defeated the Picture Butte Sugar Queens 53-49. Cori Watson paced the Sugar Queens with 14.
In the other semi, the Chestermere Lakers whipped the Bow Island Senator Gershaw Gators 89-67.
In the bronze medal match, the Bow Island Senator Gershaw Gators defeated the Picture Butte Sugar Queens 98-82 in triple overtime. Karma Kolody paced the Gators with 46. Cori Watson topped Picture Butte with 19. Shauna Parks added 18 and Jennifer Juris 13. The Sugar Queens (coached by Hank Heerze) also included Kim Tolley, Laura Wander, Shanna Chronk, Kamile Marsden, Tanya Stroeve, Misty Cozac, Tara O’Donnell, Lynn Nicholl, Katrina Adams, Judy Lewis and Kristin Papworth.
In the final, the Calgary Chestermere Lakers defeated the Hanna J.C. Charyk Hawks x-x. The Lakers captured their third consecutive title despite having 10 rookies on the roster. “Our girls never stopped believing in themselves, despite what others thought,” said coach Brian Utley.
