In the quarterfinals, the Raymond Comets defeated the Calgary Christian Cougars 38-22 as Leisel Hardy and Tammy Sheen each scored 12. Leslie Hardy added 8.
The Rimbey Spartans dispatched the Calgary Chestermere Lakers 38-30 as Linda Wit scored 16 and Diane Dobler 15.
The Carstairs Trojans edged the Sexsmith Sabres 35-33.
In the last quarterfinal, the Devon Wildcats nipped the Fort Saskatchewan Stingers 46-44.
In the semis, the Raymond Comets defeated the Rimbey Spartans 51-35 as Tammy Sheen scored 12 and Leisel Hardy 10. Dianne Dobler led the Spartans with 13. Linda Wit added 11.
In the other semi, the Carstairs Trojans defeated the Devon Wildcats x-x.
In the bronze medal match, the Rimbey Spartans clipped the Devon Wildcats 47-41 as Dianne Dobler scored 16 and Linda Wit 9.
In the final, the Raymond Comets defeated the Carstairs Trojans 44-27. Leisel Hardy paced the Comets with 12. Tammy Sheen added 10. The Comets led 12-5, 14-11 and 30-16 at the quarters. Raymond had resurrected its girls’ program eight years earlier after a roughly 20-year period in which there was no girls’ team at the school, despite the popularity of the game and the tremendous success of the boy’s program.
