In the quarterfinals, the Coaldale Kate Andrew Gaels clipped the Edmonton St. Mary Saints 32-24 after leading 16-6 at the half. Ed Dick paced the Gaels with 20 points and 15 boards. Werner Schmiegelt added 4, along with 11 boards. Dave Kieller led the Saints with 8. The Saints also included Rick Dudak, Ed Patete.

The Tofield Titans clipped Drayton Valley 47-36.

The Vegreville Cougars dispatched the Calgary Queen Elizabeth Knights 48-39. The Knights (coached by Joe Morris) included Ken Beaudry, Glen Pilling, Kevin Lucy, Scott Dalton, Bruce Wright.

In the last quarterfinal, the Brooks Buffalos whipped the Peace River Nomads 83-41. The Nomads (coached by Ryan Towers) included Doug Gladue, Gordon Yakemchuk, John Teed, Don Lehmann, Rodney Osborne, Dennis Biggs, Lee Bourque, Les Auger, Randy Ambrose.

In the semis, the Coaldale Kate Andrews Gaels crushed the Brooks Buffalos 54-39. Ed Dick paced the Gaels with 22. Gunther Macht added 13 and Ray Lister 10. The Gaels led 26-21 at the half and 40-27 after three quarters.

In the other semi, the Tofield Titans dispatched the Vegreville Cougars 40-37.

In the final, the Coaldale Kate Andrews Gaels defeated the Tofield Titans 44-29. Ed Dick paced the Gaels with 16. Ray Lister added 14 on 7-8 from the floor. Kim Pearson paced the Titans with 10. Ken Nachtigal added 8. The Gaels led 8-4, 22-11 and 36-20 at the quarters. “I’d have to say our defensive game was the winning factor,” Gaels coach Pius Labolevech told the Lethbridge Herald. “The boys played exceptionally well on defence and it was obviously an all-round team effort. Whenever a player got trapped or missed an assignment, there was always someone there to cover him up.” The Gaels hit 51% from the floor. Coaldale Kate Andrews finished (20-7) on the season. Ed Dick led the Pride with 467 points on the campaign.
