In the southeast zone playoffs, the Medicine Hat Crescent Heights Drifters emerge as champs in a four-team draw that also included Brooks, Hanna and Foremost.
In the quarterfinals, held in St. Albert, the Wainwright Commandos defeated the Pincher Creek Matthew Halton Hawks 60-44. It was the Hawks first loss in 29 games during the season. Dennis Simpson led the Hawks with 11. Gary Burns added 10. The Hawks (coached by Mark Mackenzie) also included Robert Oullette, Gary Burns, Wayne Bonertz, Cecil Blackburn, Lorne McClain, Marvin Simpson, Douglas Age, Bruce Laidlaw, Tony Sutcliffe and Greg Taylor.
The Medicine Hat Crescent Heights Drifters dusted the Drumheller Dynos 72-34. The Dynos (coach by Ed Lucotch and managed by Jim Mee) included Bob Hartog, Joe Shearlaw, Gary Pierce, Earl Barton, Archie Plante, Roger Mestinsek, David Eno, Elwood McDonald, Larry Needham, Allan Beach, Roy Hodgson and Gary Soles.
The Vermilion Marauders dispatched the Stettler William E. Hays Wildcats 47-30. The Wildcats included Pat Filipenko, Dean Davidson, Bob Fix, Lawrence Hart, Ross McKinney.
In the last quarterfinal, the Fort Saskatchewan Stingers dumped the Grande Prairie Schooners 51-43. The Stingers led 23-6 after one quarter. Mike Scandrett led the Schoones with 16. Robbie Lougheed added 12. The Schooners also included Edgar Andrews, Jerry Pitman, Lionel Kyle.
In the semis, the Fort Saskatchewan Hornets defeated the Medicine Hat Crescent Heights Drifters 54-46 after leading 30-11 at the half.
In the other semi, the Wainwright Commandos dispatched the Vermilion Marauders x-x.

In the final, the Fort Saskatchewan Stingers defeated the Wainwright Commandos 45-35 (also reported as 56-45) as Randy Routley scored 18 and Malcom Turner 16. Dave Grant led the Commandos with 10.
