In the provincial quarterfinals, held in Fort Saskatchewan, the Lacombe Rams defeated the Coaldale Kate Andrews Gaels 60-55. The Gaels included Stan Sovka, Gerry Nykiew and Glen Matthews.

        The Vegreville Composite Cougars edged the Carbon Raiders 55-50 as Ian Korchinsky scored 16. Barry Stubbert led the Raiders with 14. The Raiders also included Lloyd ‘Bud’ Goacher, Bernie Stubbert.

        The Magrath Zeniths clocked the Calgary Bowness Trojans 58-36 as Burke Hamilton scored 19, Roy Hansen 11  and Ron Ehlert 11. Dennis Ooms paced the Trojans with 13. The Trojans also included Glen Mundy, Barry Munson.
