In the three-team Calgary city league, Western Canada emerged the champ after defeating Commercial High School and Crescent Heights. Western Canada dumped Crescent Heights 30-19. Western Canada included Hatcher, Porteous, Whittle, Stewart and Carlson. Crescent Heights included Groves, Campbell.
In the Southern League finals, the Magrath Zeniths defeated the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute Rams 27—39; 45-19; 39-32 (2g-1).
In game one, the Rams prevailed 39-27 over the host Zeniths after leading 18-10 at the half. Cory Dogterom paced the Rams with 10. Glen Anderson added 9, B Murdoch 8, A Phillips 5, Jim Sloan 5 and Les Walker 2. Fred Karren led the Zeniths with 16. George Hamilton added 5, Merline Rich 4 and Rey Bennett 2.
In game two, the Zeniths stomped the host Rams 45-19 to even the series. The Zeniths led 22-10 at the half. Fred Karren paced the Zeniths with 19. Rey Bennett added 11, George Hamilton 7, Les Turner 6 and Merline Rich 2. Cory Dogterom paced the Rams with 6. B Murdoch added 4, Jim Sloan 2, Mel Sherwood 2, J Campbell 2 and Les Walker 1.
In game three, the Zeniths prevailed 39-32 to capture the series. The Zeniths led 21-18 at the half and iced it down the stretch on a pair of buckets by George Hamilton, who paced the Zeniths with 16. Fred Karren added 10, Rey Bennett 9, LaDrue Turner 2 and Merline Rich 2. Cory Dogterom paced the Rams with 8. There was no northern challenge, so the Alberta Amateur Basketball Association declared the Zeniths provincial champs.
