This year we changed our attitude,” coach Pierre Trudeau, who boasted five provincial team players on his squad, told the Montreal Gazette. “We wanted to get rid of the revenge factor and just play through every opponent.” The Indiennes dominated every facet of the game. “They overwhelmed us,” said John Abbott coach Lisen Moore. “They killed us on the boards, at both ends. And they beat us to the ball time and again. They didn’t outwork us but they did overwhelm us. They forced us into poor decisions. We had our opportunities early.” Ahuntsic took a 20-8 lead at the start and extended the margin to 31-15 at the half. Although John Abbott narrowed the margin to 31-22 at the start of the second half, it was the only time the deficit fell in single digits. Isabelle Desrochers led the Indiennes with 20. “We worked our hearts out today,” said Trudeau. “We were prepared for everything. We knew we would be facing a zone defence and we were ready for it.”
