        In the semis, the John Abbott Islanders edged the Champlain-Lennoxville Cougars 48-46. The Islanders trailed 28-19 at the half but Julie Rousseau scored 12 consecutive points to rally them in the second half. Maureen Timmons led John Abbott with 14. Anne Legault paced the Cougars with 12.

        In the other semi, the Ahuntsic Indiennes defeated the Vanier Cheetahs 56-35. Vanier shot just 14-51 from the floor and was badly outrebounded by the Indiennes Isabelle Tetrault and Manon Ouellet. Nancy Ethier and Isabelle Tetrault each scored 12 to pace Ahuntsic. Suzy Czelnai led Vanier with 15.

        In the bronze medal match, the Champlain-Lennoxville Cougars defeated the Vanier Lady Cheetahs 69-42 as Anne Legault scored 21. The Cheetahs (coached by Frank Lapointe) included Suzy Czelnai, Caroline Seney, Antonella Miriello, Patricia Cannuci, Sue Plaza.

        In the final, the John Abbott Lady Islanders thrashed the Ahuntsic Indiennes 65-48 to capture their fifth title since the CEGEP AAA league was created in 78-79. “We got some great performances from people, all the way from (Sandra) Mullins and (Maureen) Timmons in the guard spot, to Christine (Ferron), Julie Rousseau and Christina van Barnevald – they all played very well,” coach Chris Hunter told the Montreal Gazette. Timmons and Mullins easily handled Ahuntsic’s pressure and dictated the tempo. Co-tournament MVP Mullins led John Abbott with 14. Timmons added 13 and co-tournament MVP Rousseau 11. After a sluggish start, John Abbott took a 32-25 lead into the lockers. “At half time, Chris told us it was a new ball game, that we had to go back and build up again,” said Mullins. “We came out and controlled the game from there.” John Abbott hit 22-53 from the floor and 19-31 from the line. Ahuntsic shot just .333, while all-star Chantal St. Pierre was 1-9. Isabelle Tetrault and Nancy Ethier each scored 11 to lead the Indiennes.
