Final regular season standings Vanier (x-x);

        Champlain: Alan Borrie, Winston Bradshaw, Glenn Matsubara, Jeff Skerret, Bob Wright, coach Jack Maynor. Borrie, Bradshaw, Matsubara and Skerret were deemed by the league to be ineligible midseason because they were enrolled as “night” continuing education students. The school asserted that they enrolled as such because of a lack of space but the league forced to Champlain to forfeit games.

        Similarly, the league forced Dawson to forfeit four games because Brent MacPhee was enrolled as a night student.

        In the semis, the Dawson Blues pounded Maisonneuve 135-53 as Varouj Gurunlian scored 28, Pat Adrian 24, John Hunter 20, Jim Reid 16, Ivor Lewis 14 and Wayne Smith 10. The Blues led 69-29 at the half. Robert Vallerand led the Vikings with 19. Vikings coach Alex Sidorenko told the Montreal Gazette “we did our best but what could I do? We lost six players, including three starters, at Christmas, when they all graduated.” Blues coach Richie Spears said “it’s hard to get the players up for this team. After all, the last time we played them, we beat them by over 100.” Dawson had to play the semi though going undefeated in the regular season. Blues guard Brent McPhee was deemed ineligible shortly before Christmas, so Dawson had to forfeit four games. That dropped them into second but Maisonneuve was awarded second because two of the forfeited games were against the Vikings.

        In the final, the Dawson Blues nipped the Vanier Cheetahs 84-80 as Ivor Lewis scored 35, Brent McPhee 20 and John Hunter 17. Gerry Ostroff led the Cheetahs with 20. Brad Muir added 18, Ron Way 16 and Mark Vickars 14. Dawson trailed 27-13 early but rallied to take a 41-40 lead at the half. Ivor Lewis told the Montreal Gazette that “naw, I wasn’t worried. I always shoot badly until I’m tired. I find that when I’m tired, I seem to be able to concentrate more.” Blues coach Richie Spears said “relentless pressure. We just kept coming at them.” Vanier coach Ed Mahar said “we’re a young team.” The Blues finished (24-6) on season, including their four forfeits.
