In the final, the top-seeded Prairie Bible Institute Pilots edged the Saskatchewan Polytechnic-Saskatoon Amaruks 53-48.         On June 4, 2018, Saskatchewan Polytechnic abandons its athletic programs in favour of a “wellness approach” to recreation. Provost Dr. Anne Neufeld said “when we look at what other polytechs are doing, or other post-secondary institutions, a number of them are moving towards this wellness approach. With health promotion for example, it may be looking at things like nutrition counselling.”

The Burman University Bobcats join the Prairie Athletic Conference. The Bobcats had been playing exhibition games with teams from the Alberta College Athletic Conference. The seventh-day Adventist school does not play games on Saturdays and thus was unable to gain entry to the ACAC. Athletic director Ron Schafer said “we had tried for two years in a row to get into the ACAC … and weren’t able to get in there because we wouldn’t play on Saturday, and so now we are able to get into this league (PAC) and we’re excited about having a place to play again.” Burman had played in the Alberta College Athletic League until it dissolved in 2015. The Bobcats won gold in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and in 2015 in the ACAL.
