The Blues built an early lead the post play of Karyn Nelson and back-to-back treys by Michelle Errico, who kept nailing jumpers as the extend the margin into double digits. Camosun rallied in the third quarter on the post play of Rachael Bakker and Kelly Young, but down the stretch, Errico and Carmel M’Bikata nailed jumpers as the Blues withstood the charge and pulled away down the stretch. The score was knotted at 61 after regulation. The Blues took a 57-56 lead with four minutes to play in the foul-plagued affair. Blues guard and player of the game Ashley De La Cruz Yip kept attacking off the dribble down the stretch and hit a bucket with 26-8 seconds on clock to force overtime. Blues guard Sherrie Errico hit the first five points in overtime as the outcome was determined. The Kermodes led 44-42 after three quarters. Kermodes Miriam Baumann and Emily Lachenmayer were stellar defensively. The Royals took a slim lead early in the fourth quarter on two treys from Simran Bir. Jordin Wilkinson knotted the score at 51 by drained a trey for the Kermodes. With one second on the shot clock and a minute left in the game, Baumann hit a fall away jumper to give the Kermodes a 55-53 lead. Nanaya Miki got to the free throw line on the ensuing possession and converted both to tie it back up 55-55. The Kermodes got the ball back with 25 seconds left in the game. As the shot clock was winding down, Wilkinson hit a clutch three to put the Kermodes up 58-55 with 6.3 seconds left. Baumann was chosen player of the game. The Blues led 25-24 at the half and 42-38 after three quarters. Both squads struggled with their marksmanship early. But the Blues dominated the next two quarters as Mariner star Sienna Pollard was forced to the bench in foul trouble. Player of the game Jamie MacFarlane rallied the Mariners with back-to-back treys in the fourth quarter. Pollard and Lanae Adams took command down the stretch, primarily by attacking the paint.
