        In the quarterfinals, held in Langley, the 3rd-seeded Douglas Royals defeated the 6th-seeded Capilano Blues 62-59. The Royals led 31-23 at the half and then withstood a furious Capilano rally. Jill Hales led Douglas with 18 points, Rochelle Liem added 11, Tammy Neufeld 11 and Christy Williams 9. Douglas shot 28-58 from the floor and 11-18 from the line. Melissa Chancey led Capilano with 23, Jenny Jamen added 11, Lindsay Diehl 9. Capilano shot 26-59 from the floor and 4-9 from the line. The Blues (coached by Paul Chiarenza) also included Amanda Beers, Gillian Thody, Candace Woodman, Lisa Iwamoto, Shawna Davis, Kelly Laird, Marie Rwigema, Amanda Nielsen, Kree Girard, Lindsay Diehl, Laura Ryan and Kate Begley.

        In the other quarterfinal, the 4th-seeded Okanagan Lakers defeated the 5th-seeded Fraser Valley Cascades 72-60 in overtime. The Cascades led 30-28 at the half and the teams were tied at 55 after regulation. The Lakers took command in overtime with a 17-5 run. Taryn Sakaki led the Lakers with 15. Angie Robson added 14 and Jenni Dorward 13. Okanagan shot 26-66 from the floor and 18-34 from the line. Rachael Peters led Fraser Valley with 19. Dawn Gosselin added 10. The Cascades shot 23-57 from the floor and 12-17 from the line. The Cascades also included Jodi Skeels, Amelia Sandoe.

        In the semis, the 2nd-seeded Thompson Rivers Sun Demons defeated the 3rd-seeded Douglas Royals 59-48. The Sun Demons led 31-22 at the half and cruised to an easy win. Kristine Teichman scored 18, Kelly Cannings 16 and Kristine Neimi 14. Sandra Redford ripped down 7 boards. Cariboo shot 23-60 from the floor and 10-19 from the line. Jill Hales paced Douglas with 17 points. Tammy Neufeld added 14 for the Royals. Douglas shot 17-49 from the floor and 10-11 from the line.

In the other semi, the 4th-seeded Okanagan Lakers stunned the top-seeded Langara Falcons 73-70. The Lakers, who’d lost twice in Langara in the regular season, trailed by one at the half 37-36. Taryn Sakaki led the Lakers with 23, Jenni Dorward added 14 and Angie Robson 7 and Aidan Cole 9. Okanagan shot 25-48 from the floor and 21-41 from the line. The Falcons were the nation’s top team, losing only once all season.

In the bronze medal match, the top-seeded Langara Falcons stomped the 3rd-seeded Douglas Royals 84-57. The Royals included Jillian Hales, Rochelle Liem, Tammy Neufeld, Christy Williams, Tenille Brown.

        In the final, the 2nd-seeded Thompson Rivers Sun Demons thumped the 4th-seeded Okanagan Lakers 68-47. Cariboo took command quickly as the upstart Lakers seemed spent. Cariboo led 32-23 at the half and cruised. Amber Paulson led the Sun Demons with 16. Kelly Cannings added 13 and Kirstine Niemi 13, along with 14 boards. Cariboo shot 28-57 from the floor and 7-12 from the line. Christel Mueller led Okanagan with 9. Angie Robson added 9 and Taryn Sakaki 5. The Lakers shot 19-59 from the floor and 5-9 from the line. “Yeah, I had a good weekend,” Niemi told Kamloops This Week. “Losing Sandra (Redford, who was suffering a back injury) was definitely hard on us but everybody stepped it up. (Kristine Teichmann, conference MVP) had an awesome weekend, Jodi (Leech) did well and everybody who came off the bench was getting big points, making steals and taking care of the ball.”
