In the semis, the Langara (then-Vancouver College) Falcons bombed the Malaspina Mariners 71-20 as Donna Rhindress scored 16, Claire Carder 10 and Lynn Clark 10. Laura Wilson led the Mariners with 10. Michelle Williams added 6.
In the other semi, the Capilano Blues clipped the Thompson Rivers (then-Cariboo) Sun Demons 58-46 as Sherri Sturmey scored 20. Beth Somers led the Sun Demons with 12. Leanne Cowell added 11.
In the bronze medal match, the Malaspina Mariners dispatched the Cariboo Sun Demons 40-32 as Laura Wilson scored 16, (also reported as 17). Louise Smith added 12 and Donna Foley 6, while Michelle Williams nabbed 12 boards. Mariners coach Wayne Clouthier told the Nanaimo Daily News “it was great, everyone played well. It was the first appearance in the playoffs and we weren’t expected to do much. A bronze medal is a pleasant surprise for the whole team.” Nancy Shea led the Sun Demons with 12. Thompson Rivers (coached by Stu Wormsbeckey) also included Julie Maitland, Beth Somers, Leanne Cowell, Beth Parks, Deneen Baron, Judith Harlock, Shelley Samuelson, Jackie Maclean.
In the final, the Langara Falcons edged the Capilano Blues 62-58 in overtime as tourney MVP Joanne Devlin scored 24 and Mary Harrower 13. Devlin hit the last two field goals in overtime. Sherrie Sturmey paced the Blues with 23. Brenda Giesbrecht added 17.
