        In the semis, the 2nd-seeded University of Northern British Columbia Timberwolves defeated the 3rd-seeded Camosun Chargers 83-84 despite trailing 35-31 at the half. The Timberwolves ran a well-executed lob pass for Charles Barton who scored just as time expired at the half. The Timberwolves used good ball movement that started creating open shots; their shooting percentage went from 40% in the first half to 64% in the second half. The Chargers used their fast break to get layups, but when the Timberwolves turned up the defence, they had to work for every basket. The Timberwolves outscored Camosun 23-17 in the third quarter, and 39-32 in the fourth quarter. Charles Barton paced the Timberwolves with 20 on 8-11 from the floor, 1-1 from the arc, 1-3 from the line and 8 boards.         In the other semi, the top-seeded Vancouver Island Mariners dumped the 5th-seeded Capilano Blues 67-57. The Blues led the Mariners 13-11 after the first quarter as James Lum got free for a couple breakaways. But in the second quarter, the Blues offence grind to a halt as they missed several open looks and had to work hard for every basket. The Mariners outscored them 16-7 in the quarter, and led 27-20 at halftime. Both teams struggled to hit from long range as the Blues went 2/16 and the Mariners went 1/10 from behind the arc. In the third quarter, the Mariners balanced scoring took over the game as they won the quarter 25-15. Jacob Thom hit a couple three-pointers and then a breakaway slam dunk emphasized a 9-0 run and the biggest lead of the game at 50-33. The Mariners led 61-44 when the Blues used some full-court pressure to make a late run. The Mariners called a timeout with a 63-52 lead before the teams traded some late baskets. Patrick McCarthy paced the Mariners with 20 on 9-13 from the floor, 2-2 from the line and 12 boards. Jacob Thom added 18 on 5-5 from the floor, 2-7 from the arc, 2-4 from the line, 9 boards, 8 assists and 2 steals. Richard Townsend Gant added 8 on 3-7 from the floor, 1-2 from the arc and 5 boards.         In the bronze medal match, the 3rd-seeded Camosun Chargers rallied to defeat the 5th-seeded Capilano Blues 84-78. The Chargers Trevor Scheurmann was chosen player of the game for the Chargers while Tyler Lutton earned the laurels for the Blues. The Chargers trailed 23-17 after the first quarter and 45-39 at halftime as the Blues continued to pressure them and force difficult shots. In the second half, the Chargers continued to chip away at the Capilano lead, going to their bench and keeping their players fresh. The Camosun bench outscored the Blues’ bench 12-5. Their defence allowed just 13 Blues points in the third quarter, while Blake Mansbridge scored 8 of his points in the third. His three-pointer tied the game at 54, and Camosun led 63-58 going into the final quarter. Camosun’s momentum staked them to a 71-61 lead before the Blues roared back, Lum and Steele burying three-pointers, from deep in the corners to tie the game at 71. When Tyler Lutton stole the ball and converted, the Blues led 75-72 with three minutes to play. A Blandford basket and a travelling call on Steele gave the ball back to the Chargers. When Scheurmann scored a go-ahead basket, the Chargers led 78-77 and wouldn’t give up the lead again. After hitting free throws, the Chargers led 80-77 and Lum was unable to hit a long three-pointer to tie the game.

        In the final, the 2nd-seeded University of Northern British Columbia Timberwolves dumped the top-seeded Vancouver Island Mariners 69-61. Joel Rybachuk was chosen player of the game for the Timberwolves, while Greg Gillies earned the laurels for the Islanders. The Timberwolves came out on fire to start the game, quickly building a 13-2 lead before Joel Rybachuk’s trey from far outside the line made it 16-2. They hit four three-pointers in the opening quarter and shot 9-15. The Mariners struggled to get good looks and shot 4-14 to start the game. When they weren’t hitting from outside, Billy Cheng and Rowe were getting inside the paint and dishing off to teammates, and Wolves led 23-10 after one. The Timberwolves defence was smothering the Mariners ball-handlers forcing turnovers. But as quickly as they scored, the Timberwolves offence went cold. Richard Townsend Gant’s three gave the Mariners some momentum in the second quarter, and when the Mariners Brandon Jones stole the ball and scored uncontested, the lead was cut to 29-21 to end the first half. The Mariners kept up the momentum, opening the third with a 6-0 run and cutting the lead to 29-27. UNBC answered with a 7-0 run of their own before Thom and Jones scored for the Mariners and converted UNBC turnovers to make it 39-35. Barton’s basket and free throw when McCarthy picked up his third foul ended the quarter 44-35 for the Timberwolves. The Mariners twice cut the lead to five points at 50-45 and 56-51, before Thom hit a tough fadeaway in the lane to make it 56-53. When Billett scored off a nice feed from Jones to make it 58-57 for UNBC it looked like the Mariners might finally take the lead. But Sam Raphael stepped up and nailed a trey from the top of the arc to make it 61-57 and seal the win. A Charles Barton basket and Rowe’s free throw made it 64-57 before the teams traded free throws to end the game. UNBC became the first school to win both men’s and women’s basketball gold in the same season since UCFV in 2003-04. “They just had a couple guys step up and make some plays and we didn’t make an open shot,” said Mariners coach Tony Bryce men. “We really struggled to get into any sort of a flow offensively, as did they … Neither team, in all honesty, was able to execute.
