The Falcons led by as many as 31 in the second quarter. Kevin Jangola paced the Mariners with 26. Cam Isenor added 17, Greg Pierce 14, Brett Nohr 13 and Glen Johnson 9, while dishing 13 assists. Mariners coach Wayne Clouthier told the Nanaimo Daily News that “the guys played like slow zombies in the first half. … We got beat to the ball continuously. In the second half, it was a complete turnaround. We got mad. We got hungry and we got down to playing some serious basketball.” …………………………………………………… In game two, Vancouver prevailed 75-72 as Harple Manhas scored 25. Cam Isenor paced the Mariners with 19. Brett Nohr added 16, Kevin Jangula 15 and Greg Pierce 10. The Mariners led 33-28 at the half. The Mariners were undone by Greg Pierce’s knee injury in the third quarter, coach Wayne Clouthier told the Nanaimo Daily News. “It really took the steam out of us.” The Falcons promptly went on a 15-3 run to take a 50-47 lead.

        In the other semi, the Trinity Western Spartans defeated the Douglas Royals 102-73; 69-61 (2g-0). …………………………………………………… In game one, the Spartans whipped the Royals 102-73 as Paul Chaffee scored 19. Ted Vanderwal led the Royals with 25.

        In the finals, the Langara Falcons defeated the Trinity Western Spartans 81-83; 75-73; 82-78 (2g-1).

        In game one, Trinity Western edged Langara 83-81 as Jason Kinloch scored 19, Paul Chaffee 17, Dave Plenkovich 16, Doug Devries 12 and Mike Hanik 10. Plenkovich hit the winner with 13 seconds to play. “It was an incredible feeling. The clock said 13 and instinct said go for it,” Plenkovich told the Langley Advance.

        In game two, Langara defeated Trinity Western 75-73 as Danny McMullan scored 21 and Rick Gill 15. Paul Chaffee paced the Spartans with 19. Jason Kinloch added 17, Dave Plenkovich 11 and Jason Wubs 9.

        In game three, Vancouver wins the series by an 82-78 count as Rick Gill scored 18, Ross Polkoniak 15 and Dereck Dirom 15. Paul Chaffee paced the Spartans with 25. Jason Kinloch added 21.
